March 20th 2010 , Is ' VENT Worthy '

What a day I had!
Customer # 1, was sporting a ridiculous toupee.
His masquerade encompassed more than his false image that he was projecting...
his personality was over blown. He was full of 'crapola'.

Then this man and his wife.....
he even talked like Uncle Fester.
He was impossible.
And we get one of these daily.....
It's a 'Boca Thing.'

Then let's not forget the miserable married couples that duke it out for whatever they can come up with.
The arguments are not rooted in furniture decisions....
these are old and ugly unresolved issues which
they drag around and subject the world to.

And me ....my head is exploding.
The company can not think of enough work for us to do.
The office staff does very, very, very little.
And they do it with a nasty attitude.

Before the sale we are having this Sunday.....I had to send out 50 invitations,
I had to call 80 people.
And all this while doing all furniture ticketing, scheduling the delivery  of my orders.
But you see I can't actually schedule a delivery unless I watch my orders every day to see when the merchandise has arrived in the warehouse. HOLY COW!!!

Now, if I go to the office
and ask for any help what so ever.....
I get this!!!!
I have never been disrespectful to any of these girls. Especially the one tonight that ripped my head off.

Then there was more of this condescending - chastising shit. She is the dog of the left, I am the dog on the right. Do you see me...my snout is poised and ready for a good hard and attacking bite!!!!!
Boy oh boy.......one of these days.........she will get a very sharp set of words from me.
You know...........in my life, I have never spoken to any 'help' the way these little shits talk to many of us.
And you know they do this because the fish stinks from the head.
But for now....................I am getting ready for the big crazy sale tomorrow.
Do you think after today
I can pull off 'glamorous' tomorrow?
And let's not leave out confident....????

I spent 20 years of my life as an "interior designer". Everything you say resonates with me. And they call this "Following Your Bliss"! I am now working as a legal secretary where I take the money and run home to decorate sans clients, nasty clerks etc! I feel your pain.

  3. Renee,
One of my favorite quotes - 'Should you find yourself the victim of other people's bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities; remember, things could be worse. You could be them'.

Just be your beautiful, confident self tomorrow.

  5. Oh, this honesty is why we all adore you, Renee! Tomorrow, wear something lovely in addition to a positive attitude and you'll soar.

REMEMBER, the cream ALWAYS rises to the TOP!

    Big hugs to you!

  7. almost forgot- Don't know where it came from originally but my hubby and I have a friend who literally lives by these words.

"Handle every stressful situation like a dog....if you can't eat it or hump it, piss on it and walk away."

    It seemed fitting ;)

  8. Oh my all these ladies have given you perfect advice, especially Angie. I now feel helpless. Renee, seriously you had me cracking up with those so appropriate photos but the last one really was the frosting.

You can pull it off and glamorous you are in every way. Not only outside, but what counts most of all is the inside. Is there anyone we can get deported? Just kidding!!

Thinking of you & sending love xx

  10. Renee, of course you will be as gorgeous and confident as ever! It sometimes can be wearing and wearying! I try to keep these kinds of people out of my life. Miss Boca, hilarious and oh so not attractive!

  13. I like to see what happens when Ms. Boca is cremated. Always hate it when women with small brains think toting this much of silicone around is a beautiful thing. Angie's comment was hysterical. Living in an academic community, you would not believe the competition and infighting by supposedly intelligent people. I watch and I laugh. As they say the fight is so big because the stakes are so small. Be glam and know we have your back.

  14. Hi Renee!
I finally got a few minutes to explore other than my usual blogs and especially wanted to see yours after Dumbwit did her birthday tribute to you. I totally loved this post and I'm going to dig through others as well. I think you are hilarious, I, too, worked in furniture stores and got married in Boca years ago so I can relate.
It is a great read and made me crack up after a rotten week in MY store!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. of course you will be confident, that is who you are. I think God gave us crappy people in our life so we could realize just how wonderful the great ones really are. OR... these people are truly narcissistic and have some bad ass karma going on. Remember my friend, you don't need to wallow with the pigs.

  16. PS. forgot to tell you that I just got stiffed for over $600.00 from a builder. sheesh! another lesson well learned, but sometimes I wonder why I can't learn them the easy way? lol

  17. And they think they make more money operating this way, WHY?

Be who you are. It's more than enough for tomorrow.

  20. Are you sure the store is not the set for some weird reality TV show & you are being secretly filmed? The customers & staff sound like actors to me - its a setup.

  24. Dear Renee
I don't know where to start.. fabulous images to portray a perhaps less than fabulous work environment...haha Uncle Fester.. love it... and the screaming cat!! but really .. I do hope the day went well.. and I love Angie's advice... I heard that quote for the first time just the other day.. in a movie.. but can't remember which one... i suspect the little shits in the office just have a more miserable life and like to pretend they have some sort of control over theirs... Stay strong!! xxx Julie

About Renée Finberg

I have been in this business since the age of 22.

I love what I do and cannot imagine my life without Design.

Design Challenges are great.

And because of those challenges

I have imported fine antique pieces from Paris,

Designed and Manufactured Furniture,

Created Fantastic Window Treatments,

And solved all kinds of spatial & architectural issues

With my unique style.

If I can't find it, I create it.

My rooms would make excellent movie sets.

I am a visual, tactile and audio sensitive individual.

Creating is what I live for, not math, not spelling, not science.

Just Great Design.

Just imagine how it would be if each of us,

If only for a few hours of everyday,We could be in a space that is our very own.A place that is exactly the way we want it to be

Surrounded by all the things we wanted to see,

The atmosphere we wanted feel, smell and the sound we wanted to listen to.
