OMG, I am heading home!

This may look primitive........but what do you think of this for a holiday away from work?????
My poor mother has radiant heat in her floors, and it is getting COLD.
So.......guess what??
(my fave pic from the owls head transportation museum)
My mother's hot water and heat has been on the blink for 2 of my 3 day visit.
The fireplace works so it is warm in the house.
But.....COLD SHOWERS?????
I may as well be camping out. UGH!

It is like a freak show ....
she calls the repair service, they come and work on the system for 45 minutes, and VIOLA, it is working!!!
We rave and say: " You are brilliant, Thank You, Thank You."
Then my mom says her normal 15 min. schtick: "My daughter hasn't been here for a year and this happens...."
.....And now we can finally go out to do something,
when we get back there is NO HOT WATER.
But WAIT! There is more.
The next day, yesterday, the whole thing starts all over again.
We call the heating service, they come, they fix, we thank and...
As we are getting ready to leave the house it starts to stink like rotten eggs.
OH NO!!!!!
There is water pooling around my mom's feet at the computer in the kitchen.
We think the dog made a pee pee, but upon further investigation I see
is starting to pool all over.
I say to my mom, "I think this might be a septic tank back up!"
I knew someone who once who told me a story about a septic tank issue just like this.
Trust me, I am a city girl (though I long for a horse farm) I know nothing about having a septic tank.
And apparently niether does my mom.
LOL :)
Well, if you could have seen her face.....
her eyes popped out of her head like they were on springs.
She screams and starts to mop.

After the emergency DOODY BALL TANK TRUCK (septic service) arrived it all ended up ok.
Thank G-D for the tuberose candels I had given mom.

I am exausted reliving this .
We are on our way to Portland Maine, for my flight home.
Trust me on this......my mother is and always has been LUCILLE BALL.
Something will happen on our way there.

A Fully Restored 'Gypsy's Wagon'

This is the real thing !!!
It was brought over from Europe and is on loan to the Owls Head Transportation Museum, in Owls Head Maine.
It is just down the street from where my Mom lives. She has tried to get me to go there for years, and finally yesterday I agreed. What a great place!
 I love mechanical things.
What I mean is 'gears and wheels.'
I will post the rest of the museum. It is filled with planes, cars, and all sorts of other things related to transportaion.

Below are some close up shots of the Gypsy Wagon.

Would you be a GYPSY for a weekend and live in this wagon while camping?

Above on the left is the kitchen.

And yes,

Mom made lobsters. Yummo!
Wish you were here....we bloggers would have a fun time. The weather is beautiful and the leaves are divine.

Laurel Hill

Cindy Rinfret's  Laurel Hill

Cindy Rinfret, proprietor of Rinfret, Ltd., has been creating iconic interior design and defining true ‘Greenwich Style’ for nearly 17 years. With an array of high-profile clients, her portfolio includes eleven homes for Tommy Hilfiger, and several stately Georgian Mansions.

About her home 'Laurel Hill' ,she says:
“This is a wonderful process for every designer to experience. We often stand beside our clients while they endure this stressful process, but when it is happening to you, there is much to learn from the experience.”

There is that 'Zebra' so many of us love.

C.R. says:
“the journey of a house should enable you to embrace the things you love. Our house is a composite of the time my family has had together. We have art that is from my husband’s apartment in New York City, and our dining room table is a French cheese table made of reclaimed wood. These are not just pieces of furniture to us. They hold meaning and are representative of who we are and where we’ve been.”

How about a bubble bath in here ???

Is this not a fabulous wall treatment ??

The Holidays are coming sooner than we can imagine. Isn't this cozy and inviting?
Are you ready emotionally for the holidays?
This can be a difficult time of year for many. I am never ready for them.

Me ? I love Halloween. It is my favorite Holiday. and that is about it.
I think it is the changing leaves and the change in temperature that hooked me so many years ago while living in NYC.
Here in Florida....we have none of that.

I will be heading up to Maine this Tuesday morning to visit with my Mom. I will be dining on lobster, and just hanging out. I hope to be be posting some pics of the leaves.
My feet need a vacation and much as my 'head' does.

love to you,
 xxx RF

Tommy's Old Place

"Stone Hill is the eleventh residence that upscale interior designer Cindy Rinfret has decorated for
Tommy Hilfiger. The world renowned fashion designer’s home on Round Hill Road in Greenwich stands as an example of true Fairfield County grandeur."

I came across this and fell completely for it. As it happens, this is the home of Tommy Hilfiger.
And from what I can gather he did not do his own home.

There is quite a bit of black. (which is my fave)
I just think black just balances things out .....at least in 'my world' it does.

This room is okay. It is a bit boring to me.
As Stone Hill is now on the market for sale, Rinfret will soon be helping Hilfiger decorate a new duplex penthouse in the Plaza Hotel of Manhattan. This home is offered by Sotheby’s International Realty Janet K. Milligan 203-869-4343

But this bathroom looks just right for me to get ready for Saturday.
Retail Hell Day.

I have a decent  presentation on Monday. So I will be working on it this weekend, along with meeting new clients as well.
Did you know I often fantasize that I am  singing and dancing my way around the showroom with a new prospect.
I am kidding.
Well, maybe if I had Madonna's body.....

PS Do you like zebra accents in a room?

Anytime at all....

 I am missing NYC.
I am missing Carnegie Hill around 94th and Madison. It gets very quite there after 6pm. Just like it is quiet in the morning until about 7:45 am during the week.
During the weekend it is a perfect neighborhood. It is. It is quiet there, maybe just kinda' sleepy and very relaxed.
People are walking their dogs, taking their kids to the park.
Some just gettng the morning paper and a cup of coffee.
I miss NYC.
This time of year is so very cozy there. It is just great to take long walks down Madison, with someone you love, or even a run through the park (to get away from the one you love lol).
Or......You could sit and watch the world go by.
Sweet.
