We Love Painted Woodwork And Cabinetry. Don't We?

Oh look!!!!
I live here.
This would be the perfect entrance for me.
A double dutch door for my sweet horse to peek his head into.
I would have to have one in the kitchen as well,
so that we could have our morning oats together.
I WISH!!!
These are the yummiest images.
I love all wood.
And there is something so' fresh'
about white or creamy white painted wood.
Steal an idea or two for your own home.
I love these floors.
Bobby Short is on his way.
(the piano)

So stylish.

Do prefer your 'wood-work' natural,
stained, or painted in an entryway?

  1. I'm having house envy after seeing these images. I think I like the look of a dark/natural wood in the entry way, especially in older homes. In our last house, we painted our dark wood kitchen cabinets white and I loved that look.

  2. Cannot beat creamy, white cabinetry and woodwork. Presents a clean look which really allows the wall color to be the focus.

  3. Hi Renee,
Well, in the 70's we stripped every last inch of wood in our Victorian house. That was the fashion at the time but now I have my husband frantically painting everything. I can't bring myself to paint our internal doors, as they are original and I think , still look lovely. I think that I like a bit of both. I love creamy white paintwork, but a bit of natural woodwork really warms the house up. I am in two minds at the moment. ( no change there then !!) XXXX

  4. tea or wine
    i agree.
    it just is brighter....and cleaner.

the stained i think, is too heavy for an entire home.
but, a dedicated room or two with stained wood-work will achieve that cozy room you might need to have.
    like me.
i love to have a room in the house to escape in...
that is darker than the rest of the house and i can nap, watch a movie of blog.

    xxxx thanks for the comment

While I would hesitate to paint the natural wood trim of an older home that was intended to be presented as such, my personal preference leans towards painted trim with all its decorative possibilities. In Manhattan apartments with steel door jambs, I sometimes add wood elements to beef up the painted trim, but make mahogany or pine doors with a natural finish.

  6. Paint..paint ..paint I say. I wish I had the fortitude to paint all the remaining woodwork in this house but I don't. Perhaps it would of helped sell it faster? Our Seattle home was all painted woodwork & we loved it. But as we know..styles will change once again some darn day. Will you share Bobby Short & that piano with me?

    *kisses*

I especially like this post and of course your horse photos.

    Best Regards

  8. I agree Renee, love that entry...could see my Romeo sticking through the dutch door, since he's white....the only things noticed would be his blue eyes. I say vote for paint! Have a great Friday!!
