Fashion Is Home Fashion

Which of these fashions might inspire a room for you?

Such detail and gentile colors.
This would make a great jumping off point for a beautiful room.
I see it tailored.

How do details and colors inspire you?
Can you remember a time and place where it might have happened?

My office and my daughters rooms inspired by the colors above.
We still love them.
::::
What is just below
is my absolute favorite image and the reason I own this book.

Some people just get my collar up.
So....I should be wearing this on such occasions.
No?

Blue and silver is so predictable,
don't you think?

This fabulous turban inspires me.
The creams, and deeper creams
with a touch of off white whipped cream would make a stunning room.
Accents in turquoise of course.

  1. I have always been so intrigued by the level of detail that goes into these garments. I had to make some costumes for the Scarlett Pimpernell for my daughters school play 2 years ago. It took months to make 10 costumes but well worth it.

  2. Drooling over these images Renee! The hat is the most beautiful assortment of luxurious textures and colours, and your stand up collar coat thing is well,,,would "sumptuous" be a good adjective?

I am often inspired by fabric, either on the bolt or made up into clothes, and use that as a jump off point for a scheme.

  3. blue fruit

it is pretty wild how you can see a few colors together on a bolt, on a jacket,
    on a pair of shoes,
in a garden and suddenly you are no longer 'stuck.'

  4. This is a good reminder that inspiration for home decor doesn't always have to come from a paint chip or a magazine. I'm planning to decorate my daughters' bathroom with a "Breakfast at Tiffany's-Audrey Hepburn" theme, because we love the Tiffany blue and Audrey is such a great idol and role model.

Renée, thanks for the kind comments you left on my blog. I hope your client gets inspired to create her custom bathroom. The cost often seems prohibitive at first, but when you realize it is for the long term, go for quality and for what makes you happy. It is well worth it and you will get that value back in terms of resale and longevity both design wise and maintenance wise.

  5. They are all so lovely but that one pale aqua concoction with the gold brocade is so over the top gorgeous I can only imagine the outrageously gorgeous room that could be inspired by such a beauitful creation! All stunning however..makes a boring white room suddenly looking well very vanilla!

  9. Wonderful images. I think the textures are just as important as the colors and would love a room inspired by the Poirt turban... for a start.
