Feelings Are Not Facts, And Facts Are Not Feelings

After a day of recover from my 'Lousy Tuesday' with my
 lousy boss, I am back!!!!
I have been toying with some cartoons in my head.
Millie from the Laurel Hedge suggested bringing her cupcakes just to throw her off......
(  I'd like to throw her off alright! )
But, I immediately got this image in my head.....
...and of course this approach is out of the question.

So I tried  to get into the cupcake idea.
But once again ....with my brain full of twisted cartoons,
I thought of Dr. Timothy Leary P.H.D.......
and how he might help my boss lady and her poor people skills.
"Here you go Boss Lady...I have made you some yummy cupcakes"
"Try One"
.....her mind a few moments later.........
then I thought of having at least 20 people show up on the sidewalk
outside the store carrying these signs.
( This would occur on a Retail Saturday at about 2pm
when the store is busy and all of  Boca Raton is driving by the store.)
...And little ole' me just watching
from inside the store
while the owner/boss lady trips out!!!!!
***
I can have evil little fantasies, I just can't act out on them.
heheheheheheh
But alas................
the best revenge is looking good,
...and working hard.
I think that just 'suiting up' and 'showing up' is half the battle.
Right?

And I should smile... a lot!
Right?
( I have have been told it makes people wonder)

You Likie ???

It is not always easy to come up with something new and creative for places that you would normally use tile.
Well, I saw this and thought...hmmmmmm.
I like it.
You can use any water based paint color.
You can mix the paint with water if you want to have a color stain.
Or paint it on straight away , brush  on the color and let it dry for days.
Then seal it with marine varnish.
It will stand up to water.
Boats and Sailboats use it, so it is tried and true.
I think this is really nice idea. I would do it in my own home.
There is texture, color, and durability coupled with
being inexpensive and a 'DIY' project!!!
How great is that?

Do you like this idea?
.

The Back Splash:

Planking from Home Depot that looks like bead-board,
stained with Minwax's "green tea," a water-based wood stain, and sealed it with
two coats of high-gloss marine varnish.

For the paint recipe, go here. And to see this clever studio in nyc.

Tuesday Was Just A Lousy Day

This how I wish I could dress for work.
I would at least feel a little protected,
with my collar up, protective head gear, and bodyguards in top hats

I am going to work today
at 12:30 pm and will work until 9pm.
Oh yeah....lucky me, I have a job.
Yesterday my boss, who is an owner of this HUGE furniture store
berated, intimidated, condescended, and mocked me
when I went in to go over an order with her.
All this was done with an audience of a co-worker, and office staff .
Sounds like fun right ?
Do any of you know what 'crazy making' is?
This is one CRAZY MAKING BOSS!!!
"Crazy making can happen in a variety of ways.
For example;
You are lead to believe that he/she changed his/her mind and you accept the last statement as what was meant. But later in the week, when the issue comes up, he/she says, "Well, I already told you such and such" which was the first thing he/she said. In short the discussion with you was set up so that no matter what happened the person can say that he/she did what was agreed. Note: 'crazy making' really will make you crazy after a while.
Crazy making is a guaranteed way to control someone because you can never be right. If a person requires two opposite things from you, point out that this is impossible and that you cannot do this."
I am not very happy this morning thinking about going to work to be ....
'who knows what' by her.
This is an incredibly toxic environment.
I had to leave work yesterday!
I had to just get out of there....
So I drove down to the ocean ( how lucky am I? ), smoked a ciggy and cried.
I picked myself up, dusted myself off, and drove right into a big design firm that I have passed a million times.
They are a top, top, top contemporary design firm here in Fla. Fla. land.
*And all over the design mags.
I went in and asked if they were hiring.
The original owner, the mom,
who I have known from my years at Bloomie's was sitting right there at the front desk.
She was sweet and asked me to send her my resume,
and explained (which I knew... and she knew I knew)
' how things are' right now in the economy.
And that only her son and daughter were working as designers right now.
So, back to work I went.
I felt so much better.
I walked back into the showroom, held my head high,
(and I happened to be dressed beautifully, thank g-d., I always feel better when I look sharp)
and put a big smile on my face.
Through the doors I went, and walked past everyone and back to my office, and back to work I went.

When I take 'action' to try improve my situation,
I always feel better. Even if I don't get the job, I still feel better.
I will continue to try to change my life for the better.
I will continue to keep my eyes open.
Maybe it's just me, but....
I have a problem when a person thinks they can treat you like an indentured slave.
I am not one.

How have you handled a situation like this?
I am open minded, let me know.
XXX's

*BTW, the old me would have just quit....
I am not in a situation that I can do that.
But, oh how I wish I could!!!

To Laminate Or Not To Laminate

I ran upon this home while looking in the New York Social Diary.
I was instantly drawn in because I love Venetian Mirrors.
Above this classic beauty coupled with edgy chairs.

But this is what I really wanted to post about.....
the kitchen chairs and table.

The chairs are 'Louis' and the table is an old industrial table.
Don't these chairs look sparkling clean and white?
Is this very practical for a eat-in kitchen / family room with more than a few kids?
Sure it is......

Now you say, "but those chairs are white?" ,
"how is that practical?"
Laminate your fabric.
You can have
white if you want it!!!
It is amazing....
you can spill dark grape juice,
paint, markers, spaghetti sauce, or anything else those pesky little and big ones might spill.
Just wipe it off.
No stains. Ever!!

I love the crazy light fixtures above.

'Anything Goes'

I am not sure if the floors are Macassar wood
or Brazilian walnut or what, but it is stunning $$$$

Macasser on left and Brazilian walnut on right (or 2nd)????
How would you like to have this terrace off your master ?

Robert and Cortney Novogratz are self-taught designers (Robert was originally a stockbroker and Cortney trained as an actress) who have been enviably successful at finding bargain properties, reading the taste-zeitgeist very well while renovating them and then selling them on for fat profits. But there is another dimension to their lives that grabs almost all the attention: the fact that they have seven kids under the age of 13 – all their own, including two sets of twins—no blended family here. They’re like the Waltons of the West Village, if the Waltons were hip that is. Not surprisingly, they have a book out and their own reality show on Bravo, 9 X Design, coming to a small screen near you very soon You too will get a glimpse at the four washing machines, entryway that resembles a kindergarten cloakroom, and the magically uncluttered surfaces in their spacious, art-filled house on the West Side Highway—move over John and Kate.
*Okay..........here is my big question to you;
Do they look exactly alike or what?????
If you switched their heads of hair they would look the same. No?

What did you like most about this home?

I am a visual, tactile and audio sensitive individual.

Creating is what I live for, not math, not spelling, not science.

Just Great Design.

Just imagine how it would be if each of us,

If only for a few hours of everyday,We could be in a space that is our very own.A place that is exactly the way we want it to be

Surrounded by all the things we wanted to see,

The atmosphere we wanted feel, smell and the sound we wanted to listen to.
