And The Winners Are......

I was just given an award;
'The Super Comments Award'
-below is the award.
Cute Isn't it?
I was given the award by Renae Moore from Moore Designs.

Here is the deal...
I must answer 10 questions (not so easy),
then pass the award along to 10 super bloggers that leave wonderful comments.
Or just show up some times to let us know they are listening.

Here goes...

1.  Why do you blog?
Blogging for me is best when I have the courage to use my 'voice'
and give my honest opinions and feelings about whatever my topic du jour may be.
I blog for the very semi-anonymous connection to the world.
I know that sounds strange since my name is on my blog
and anyone can get in touch with me via the telephone or by sending an email.
This blogging is a wondrous thing.
Isn't it???

2.  Name your three best memories.
Besides the birth of my daughter
and every second spent with my horse....
1}Having my work published.
2}Having my work published.
3}Having my work published.

3.  Name four of the best fiction books you have read.
Sorry...I don't read fiction.
When I did read fiction the only one I finished was Cather in The Rye.
Which I LOVED.
The rest of the fiction required by school to read...
it was' Cliff Note's all the way.

4.  What are the five best movies ever made?
A River Runs Through It
Ordinary People
Terms Of Endearment
Annie Hall
Breakfast At Tiffany's
Dr. Zhivago
The Fountainhead
As Good As It Gets
{I could go on}
....and not necessarily in that order

5)  Name five things I cannot live without.
Black!!!
Dark chocolate
Music
Humor
Animals

6)  If you could change your name what would it be?
Sydni or Billie
I love boys names for women.
I named my daughter Andi.
I wanted to name her Max but my dad said;
" What if she is unattractive?"
he had a point.

7.  Tell us a unique and interesting fact about yourself.
*I am most comfortable with horses and dogs.
*I spent my very early years {4-7yrs} in night clubs
and having 3 AM breakfasts with celebrities.
Oh...And my mom had little beaded evening gowns made for me.
My parents looked like movie stars.
I thought they were.
*I am uncomfortable at parties.

8)  What do you love best about yourself?
My eyes.  SURPRISED?????
My design talent,
and my life in the business.
You are always creating and learning something new.

9)  If you had a freaky Friday experience, who would you change places with?
Joni Mitchell

10)  What is the best thing about being a woman?
Being a mom to my beautiful daughter

I pass the torch onto these bloggers

Fifi @ Fifi Flower
Jackie @ Home
Julie @ Being Ruby
Angie @ Treasures
Bette @ Ideezine

You know the drill.....
Just do what I did.

After all, that's why we blog....
to get comments.
Right???

Spirals

Below are a few of the most famous spiral staircases in the world.
Barcelona. Designed by Antoni Gaudì (1852-1926

An asylum.

Fibonacci Curve:
a universal pattern of nature found
in everything from conch shells
to galaxy spirals,
including your spiral staircase
You don't even have to renew your passport,
catch a cold on a plane,
get lost,
then find the destination,
wait in lines,
....just enjoy.

Try not to get dizzy!!!

I don't know what it is
about this simple staircase,
it is just that I have imagined
it to be in a private artist's studio.
....I am always dreaming something up in my head....

I hope you are not dizzy.

I am.

I wanted to share her with you....

Look closely.
There is a girl on his back.
Roseta Santiago
I have been completely blown away by her work.
And it is no easy task to find her work online.
And trust me on this
her work in person will leave you in a state of wonder.

I couldn't even find a great image of the painting I own.

Believe me, if you saw the painting I bought
you would never guess that I would purchase it.
It is just that when I had the chance
to purchase one of her pieces
it was the only one of the lot that I could afford at the time.

I just had to have a piece of her{s}
The detail, the lighting.....she creates magic on canvas.
Her horses are my fave.

I LOVE BENTWOOD

I defy anyone over the age of 15
to tell me they have never seen,
or sat on a bentwood cafe chair.
225 East 60th Street
between 2nd and 3rd Avenues
New York, NY 10022

If you haven't been....GO!!!

Steaming Hot Bentwood!!!
No, Really!!!!
That's how it was made.
Steaming the wood and then
BENDING it.
'Viola'

::BENTWOOD::

Bentwood is graceful.
It's wild.
You look at it and wonder....
How did they ever do THAT????
It reminds me of pulling TAFFY.
And of an era in design gone by....
the 60's.
But  I predict BENTWOOD will return again.
Stronger and more appreciated.
What a gorgeous Bentwood bench.
Right?

....and a mag rack too.

Bentwood Bed Frames
A real 1960's look.
How fun is this??

For some weird reason
I have ALWAYS wanted these particular Bentwood Chairs.
'The Austrian Cafe Chair.'
The Bentwood side chairs are available at Conrans.

Yes.
It's true.
After all these years.....
{since the age of 18}
I am STILL OBSESSED with them.
Even today....
I want to use them at my my kitchen table,
but they would not work in this particular space.
I say kitchen...
but
I could see a dining room done with them.
Maybe
I will get to finally do them for my daughter
when she has her own home.
Or....maybe
someday
I will get to finally use them myself.
I love Michael!!!
I have included in this post a few excellent links
related to Bentwood and it's history.
If you would like to know more
about
BENTWOOD see links below on left.

What do you think??
Do you like my favorite chairs??

About Renée Finberg

I have been in this business since the age of 22.

I love what I do and cannot imagine my life without Design.

Design Challenges are great.

And because of those challenges

I have imported fine antique pieces from Paris,

Designed and Manufactured Furniture,

Created Fantastic Window Treatments,

And solved all kinds of spatial & architectural issues

With my unique style.

If I can't find it, I create it.

My rooms would make excellent movie sets.

I am a visual, tactile and audio sensitive individual.

Creating is what I live for, not math, not spelling, not science.

Just Great Design.

Just imagine how it would be if each of us,

If only for a few hours of everyday,We could be in a space that is our very own.A place that is exactly the way we want it to be

Surrounded by all the things we wanted to see,

The atmosphere we wanted feel, smell and the sound we wanted to listen to.
