Indian Summer Is On It's Way

Relish the last morsels of summer....

Embrace the weeding....
be grateful for the sore knees and back aches.

When I lived in NYC right around mid August I would get a little blue....
because the cool relief of a breeze would wash over me and I would know

summer was coming to it's end.

But then we will have glorious Indian Summer!!!!
And how GLORIOUS the changing red leaves are!

Have a great day.
I will, I am determined to have a great day.

I Want To Quit

Now don't get your dander up!
I never smoked until I was 42 years old.
I figured by the time I got lung cancer....
it would be about time to die anyway.

I didn't want to live to be such an old lady
with only a tiny patch of hair on top from a few too many face lifts.

Perhaps this has something to do with
caring for a 97 year old who is in hospice.
She doesn't know where she is...
maybe she does.
And that is why she is living in my home
and I care for her with my EX husband.
{i know....weird}

I just want to make sure I have enough hair left...
I don't want to have to use a wig
to make the 'outline' of a face.

Get me??

This is after one lift....
see how far the hair line moved?
Every lift..... it is gonna' move.

I hate that look.
In Boca Raton, or anyplace where there is still cash flow
you see it all over town.
Woman with GIANT faces.
I don't want to be one of them.

You know the types....
the wind blows the hair back
and they have 4" behind their ears with just SKIN.
Or an 8" high forehead.
Let's not for get the pony tails!!!
OMG....
from the neck lift,
the doctor has to pull all that skin up to someplace.
And it is in the back under where you pony tail would be.

No More Tennis ladies.

It is no different than men with the long 'COMB OVERS'.....
the wind catches them and OMG they are exposed.
{it is sooooo funny}
Like you thought that their hair grew that way....
from the bottom of their left ear and all the way
over the top of their head to the other ear.

Enough of my vanity RAMBLE....
My mom bought me an electronic cigarette.

It works, it's cool.
And I am trying to quit.
And don't worry,
I never smoked an entire pack of ciggies in a day.....
EVER!
It was more like 10 cigs in a day.
So, this should be easy.
RIGHT?

I sure a hell hope so!!

Arranging Pictures - Do You Have A Big Boring Wall??

Everybody but me has a wall that needs ' something.'
The only reason why I don't have an empty wall
is I have been in my home for quite some time {25 years},
and I am a designer.
I am relatively confident & fearless
when it comes to this stuff.
The reason why I am confident and fearless is
because
I have done this sort of thing all my life.
And it is all I have ever done.

Practice makes;
{not perfect} but a less freaked out person when attempting this sort of thing.

Throw perfect out the window
unless Architectural Digest is featuring
your big boring wall in a 'wall' in a  BEFORE & AFTER series.

If you have a big blank wall .....
do 'something.'
Unless of course
you want that "I live in a warehouse" look.
And many people do.

But... if you do not want the
"I live in a  warehouse" look.

Don't make yourself nutzo.
Just come up with a teeny weeny concept for the wall.

Photographs of family & friends
or
art - interesting images.

It is only my opinion...
I feel that you shouldn't mix personal photographs with art.

Just decide on one
 or the other.

I had to post this image....
it cracked me up.
This must be an engineer's home.

Don't OVER THINK this project.
As a matter of fact....
don't make this into an unpleasant 'science project.'

I think what you want to do is to
make the wall and your home
more interesting and reflect 'who you are' in
the images you select.
Right?
Are you with me?

Unfortunately the frames are the part of this project that is costly.
If you mix the frame styles....
this brings down the cost considerably.

here are some good sources for frames;
flea markets, garage sales. dollar stores, drugstores ....

You can use a simple approach
place the largest or focal image
in the center and build outwards.

That is what I do
when I am doing a 'cluster' of images
and they are all different sizes.

This wall is not PERFECT.
{part of the charming style}
But,
is it not 100% better than a blank or empty wall?

Like this room............
so cute and charming.

Take all the items off the walls....
yucko!!!

Have a great week!!

I have been in this business since the age of 22.

I love what I do and cannot imagine my life without Design.

Design Challenges are great.

And because of those challenges

I have imported fine antique pieces from Paris,

Designed and Manufactured Furniture,

Created Fantastic Window Treatments,

And solved all kinds of spatial & architectural issues

With my unique style.

If I can't find it, I create it.

My rooms would make excellent movie sets.

I am a visual, tactile and audio sensitive individual.

Creating is what I live for, not math, not spelling, not science.

Just Great Design.

Just imagine how it would be if each of us,

If only for a few hours of everyday,We could be in a space that is our very own.A place that is exactly the way we want it to be

Surrounded by all the things we wanted to see,

The atmosphere we wanted feel, smell and the sound we wanted to listen to.
