Once Upon A Time

There was a brother and sister that had lost their parents.

Sadly,
they went to their Mother and Fathers home in England
that was not far from Heathrow airport.
The brother and sister started to clean up the house
to get it ready to put it on the market.
While going about the business of cleaning,
there was the very dusty attic to deal with.
Amongst the things that they found
  was a long forgotten vase
that was on it's side and covered with dust.
They dusted it off ,and along with many other trinkets.
they brought this vase and everything else
to an auction house.

And if you can imagine....
"The delicate, decorative 16-inch vase
started at a not-inconsequential $800,000,
but after a half-hour of unexpectedly spirited bidding,
the gavel fell at $69.5 million."

It was the highest price ever paid at auction for a Chinese antiquity!!!

'The vase dated from the period of the emperor Qianlong, who reigned from 1735 to 1796, at the height of the Qing dynasty. He vastly expanded China’s western territories and left a legacy as a great patron of Chinese arts, including ceramics. Experts who have examined the vase, which bore an imperial seal, have said it was likely to have been made for one of the imperial palaces.'

What is in your mummy's attic?

From Somewhere In Manhattan .....

Toby watches the NYC marathon.
This is the neighborhood Toby lives in.
These are some of the runners that
Toby watches.
How I wish I were there.
I love the marathon.
I am amazed that anyone can run more than 5 city blocks.
It would all but kill me.
I might be able to walk the marathon,
but somehow I don't think anyone will still be hanging around
by the time I would finish.
Besides....
I would stop for a nice lunch
and I would be hard pressed not to go shopping
while walking passed all the superb shops.
No.....
for sure I would finish the race
holding many shopping bags.
If I finished at all.
Would you?
Could you do the NYC Marathon?

XX's

Jack And The Beanstalk

I was snooping around and came across an article
about hanging on to your inner child.
Then I saw this installation of a
Jack and The Beanstalk climbing 'thingie'
that was in a residential home.
Maybe this has been around forever...
and I haven't seen it because my daughter is 22.
Not to mention that it has been a long time
since I have been to a kiddie park.
These climbing 'thingies' are installed
in many of our premier children's museums
throughout the U.S.

I would climb this before a climbing wall without a net.
remember; i have vertigo.

when i am a bit cooled down
i will write about yesterday @ the design coal mine

The Lady Gave It Her Best

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Zenyatta came within a head
of finishing a perfect career.

Horse racing’s biggest star closed from dead last on Saturday, only for Blame to hold off the 6-year-old mare and win the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic under the lights Churchill Downs.

Blame went to the front in the middle of the stretch, then fought off another spectacular bid from the unbeaten Zenyatta to win by a head.

Zenyatta entered the race hoping to improve to 20-0 on her career. She loped behind the field for the first mile of the race before closing in a hurry.

Blame answered the challenge.
::
from ZENYATTA'S diary yesterday

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I went to the track and galloped. There was a huge crowd there to see me and watch me. People came from all over just to meet me. It was great! I loved the surface. It felt great under my feet. Steve had fun too!

After grazing and breakfast, I went to school. Walking over to the paddock, it was so amazing to just look up at the Twin Spires. This place has so much history. All went so well, John said I may not have to go to school tomorrow.

Then when grazing this afternoon,it was so special to see all of the cars stopping to see me. People were actually doing U turns in the middle of the street to stop and take my picture. It was so much fun visiting with all of these wonderful friends, I tried to personally say hello to all of them.

Another great day,,,,,,,I am one very lucky girl!

Hugs to all! ( from Zenyatta)
who has a wonderful website - click her name

I wish I could kiss her face tonight!

What Would ZENYATTA Wear?

The breeders cup is this Saturday.
Tomorrow.
Zenyatta is the darling of America at the moment.
When she retires after Saturday's race
(at 6 years old and over 17 hands high)
she may go down in history as the greatest horse.
EVER!

I watched her videos and this girl loved to dance before the races.
She knows she is a star.
And that is why I have tied her to Cyd Charisse
Cyd was a thoroughbred herself.
Such gams
Only Zenyatta has 4
beautiful legs/gams instead of only two!!
You might not totally 'get this post' unless you watch the videos that are attached.
Zenyatta actually makes all of Cyd's moves before the race.
That is why Cyd is here.
Yep.....just like Zenyatta.

Mike Smith is her Jockey
and he LOVES her.
In the interview with 60 minutes he says when asked ;
"when they retire her, which horse do you think is good enough to breed with her?"
he said with a tear in his eye;
" No one ''
I am hoping and praying for her last big win!!!

If you love 'BEAUTIFUL'
won't you love Zenyatta.??

XX's my heart is in this one.
