March 20th 2010 , Is ' VENT Worthy '

What a day I had!
Customer # 1, was sporting a ridiculous toupee.
His masquerade encompassed more than his false image that he was projecting...
his personality was over blown. He was full of 'crapola'.

Then this man and his wife.....
he even talked like Uncle Fester.
He was impossible.
And we get one of these daily.....
It's a 'Boca Thing.'

Then let's not forget the miserable married couples that duke it out for whatever they can come up with.
The arguments are not rooted in furniture decisions....
these are old and ugly unresolved issues which
they drag around and subject the world to.

And me ....my head is exploding.
The company can not think of enough work for us to do.
The office staff does very, very, very little.
And they do it with a nasty attitude.

Before the sale we are having this Sunday.....I had to send out 50 invitations,
I had to call 80 people.
And all this while doing all furniture ticketing, scheduling the delivery  of my orders.
But you see I can't actually schedule a delivery unless I watch my orders every day to see when the merchandise has arrived in the warehouse. HOLY COW!!!

Now, if I go to the office
and ask for any help what so ever.....
I get this!!!!
I have never been disrespectful to any of these girls. Especially the one tonight that ripped my head off.

Then there was more of this condescending - chastising shit. She is the dog of the left, I am the dog on the right. Do you see me...my snout is poised and ready for a good hard and attacking bite!!!!!
Boy oh boy.......one of these days.........she will get a very sharp set of words from me.
You know...........in my life, I have never spoken to any 'help' the way these little shits talk to many of us.
And you know they do this because the fish stinks from the head.
But for now....................I am getting ready for the big crazy sale tomorrow.
Do you think after today
I can pull off 'glamorous' tomorrow?
And let's not leave out confident....????

An Anchorwoman In Dallas - Living In Color

"Jane McGarry and husband Kevin’s Fort Worth residence is full of foreign flavor and sensational hues.
News Anchorwoman Jane McGarry met designer Ken Blasingame (the man designed the White House for Dubya) in Dallas, TX."
"Jane says color makes her happy. So she must be downright ecstatic as soon as she hits her driveway—her front door is lime green."
I think this place is great.
JaneMcGarry_2.ashx
"A brilliant orange dining room with rich terra cotta walls housing collections of Italian and Mexican blue and white ceramics, green velvet chairs, and a profusion of pink and orange gladioli. Of the dining room, Jane says, “This is my favorite room. It’s so rich and vibrant.” All the color makes their guests happy, too. The McGarrys often entertain during the weekends."

An Television Anchorwoman (isn't she adorable?)
"On television, Jane is a bit formal—coiffed, buttoned up, and the consummate professional. But at home, the suits give way to workout clothes—she runs daily—suitable for the comfortable life she shares with Kevin and son Michael (not to mention all of Michael’s football and baseball friends) and the dog Chocolate. She is enthusiastic about her home and the things in it. Of her job, she says, “How you present yourself, the colors you wear, and the words you say are all part of a daily art production.” The same could be said about her lovely and vibrant home."
All of this reminds me of a company I worked for for years in the 90's (with heavy Mexican influences),
Casa Casa. There was a showroom in Boca Raton, and one on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach.
These rooms remind me of some of the work we did.
This look was very hot in Florida back then.
I still like the look, although I am not into the Santos.
But hey, it's only my opinion.
Out west.... people are still into it, and might always be.
What do you think of the kitchen?
I love the turquoise....
but not in this kitchen.

How about this fireplace mantle ??
I am in the process of doing a linen headboard for a client just like this one.

What is your take on these rooms?
Would you, could you live with all this color?

"Mirror Mirror On The Wall"

I don't care what anyone says.
Mirrored walls are not dead.
SEE!!!?????
This is a feature at this month's
Architectural Digest (sponsored)
Home Design Show

I especially like to hang mirrors on mirrored walls.
A great example (and it's just one example)of what I am talking about is...
mirroring  the wall that the sink is on in a bathroom,
then you hang an outrageous mirror right over it.
Hint:  When you have the wall mirrored
leave cut outs in the mirror for lighting,
and a place to access the wall to hang your fabulous mirror.
Trust me on this...
you get a  lot of bang for your buck!!

Would you hang a mirror
on a mirrored wall if you could?

Secret Passages

This is a house loaded with secret passageways!!
*if you ever can go to Salem Massachusetts,
go to The House of The Seven Gables.
(no pictures allowed inside, that's why I couldn't post any)
A secret passage (or hidden passage or a secret tunnel) is a hidden route that is used to travel stealthily. Such passageways may be inside a building leading to a secret room, or be a way of entering (or exiting) somewhere without being seen. Hidden passages are a common feature of fiction, but have also served a variety of purposes throughout history. Hidden rooms have helped people evade capture or carry out illegal, religious, political, or smuggling activities.

I have always wanted a room with a wall just like this one.
That had a false bookcase / doorway.
Isn't this fabulous?
This is my favorite image in this post.
I would do this in a heart beat.
I was at a client's house, a
nd she had one going to a guest room
that was off the dining room.
It was fun.

From what I have found out...
these 'hidden doorways' are relatively easy installation kits.
I have them at the bottom of my post.
There are all kinds of fun ideas you can incorporate into your very own
FUN HOUSE!!

How do you feel
about the hidden  passageways?
Would you want one in your home?

About Renée Finberg

I have been in this business since the age of 22.

I love what I do and cannot imagine my life without Design.

Design Challenges are great.

And because of those challenges

I have imported fine antique pieces from Paris,

Designed and Manufactured Furniture,

Created Fantastic Window Treatments,

And solved all kinds of spatial & architectural issues

With my unique style.

If I can't find it, I create it.

My rooms would make excellent movie sets.

I am a visual, tactile and audio sensitive individual.

Creating is what I live for, not math, not spelling, not science.

Just Great Design.

Just imagine how it would be if each of us,

If only for a few hours of everyday,We could be in a space that is our very own.A place that is exactly the way we want it to be

Surrounded by all the things we wanted to see,

The atmosphere we wanted feel, smell and the sound we wanted to listen to.
