Dream A Little Dream Job

I had a dream recently
 and I was in Maine.
(where my mom lives)
My mother was in my dream
and so was her new boyfriend
who she wanted me to meet.
I was at the house alone with her new beau
while my mom had run to the store.
Feeling weird with this 'new man' in mom's life,
I decided that I needed to clean a few spots on her white carpet.
This enabled me
to avoid any serious conversation with 'The Beau',
since I decided
the best way to get these tiny spots out of her carpet
was with her 50 foot garden hose!!!

I brought the hose inside and hosed down the carpet.
Now....I am panicking because there is way to much water..........
.....but I manage to finish drying the carpet with towels
just in time for mom's arrival back home.
Ahhhh....she is home and here it comes.......
her usual minute by minute itinerary.
Mom insists on a schedule,
and getting every single
hair splitting second of fun
out of your visit with her.

So we head down to Camden Maine.
We are driving around with the new beau....
With me being me,
and not in 'the drivers seat',
I need to get out of the car for a few minutes.
I just needed to be alone for a while.
I need to have a few ciggie puffs
and explore a bit.
I am thinking;
geeez,
maybe I can find something  inspirational to paint or to post about.
So, I walk into this alleyway and see....

these 12 x 12 paintings of crazy little faces
and I say to myself;
hmmmm  "I could paint those.
Or I could try."
*
But I need to get more info.....
I go into the shop where the paintings where displayed,
and I meet the artist.
I ask her if she gives lessons.
She said " Yes, I do."

Then I asked " what is it that you are painting?"
and she said....

They are Marionettes.
*A marionette is a puppet controlled from above using wires or strings (wires being the standard now due to increased durability). A marionette's puppeteer is called a manipulator.[1] Marionettes are operated with the puppeteer hidden or revealed to an audience by using a vertical or horizontal control bar in different forms of theatres or entertainment venues
Hmmmmmm.....
Then I said
"where can I sign up, and when is the next class?"
This lovely woman explained to me that
"this is a children's art class."
(I am thinking .... ruh roh.....!!!)
"Okay" I said with enthusiasm,
"when is the next class?"
She tells me,
and off I go to find Mom and her 'new beau.'
I find them walking down by the shore.
We all load back into the car and head home.
The next thing that happens is this;

I asked to go back out to a nice cosmetic shop...
I just wanted to look around, and check out the lotions.....
maybe I would find something fabulous.....
( I love to do that)

I am looking around and
end up running into the artist lady
from downtown Camden.
The very same artist
who paints the marionettes.
We get to talking about life and our interests.
And of course,
I begin talking about what I do.

I start talking about design,
and how much I love color.
And the joy I get from making a beautiful environment
for a person to live in.

The artist lady asked me
if I would be willing to do her home?

I said "Yes, I would love to."
She explained; " I actually live in England.", "Would that be a problem?"

I said "No problem.
That would be great,
my sister lives outside of London."
We exchanged phone numbers and emails
and off she went.
When I got to the checkout counter
all the make-up girls were whispering
and looking at the 'artist lady' leaving the shop.
Then when I was checking out and paying for my things....
One of the girls asked me;
"Do you know the woman
that you were talking to?"
I said,
"well... I know she is an artist and that she lives in England."
They all started to giggle
and said to me
"That was The Queen Of England"

The girl said to me;
" she lives in England alright,"

" In Windsor Castle!!"

I looked at my mom and smiled, and she said;
"I told you darling,
everything works out for the best"

Sweet dreams tonight.
Thank you for indulging me my dream.

All The Top Apparel Designers ....

Are using real fur again.
What is your opinion on this subject?
The picture below looks like a fur that was very chic ages ago.....
MONKEY FUR.

"And it didn’t just happen because of some idea
that was floating around in the collective designer ether.
Rather, fur became a trend
because of a marketing campaign."

I am off today (yippie),

My Soul Is Starving

My soul is starving for the freedom to create!
Create something original with no constrictions.
Working for someone else is just that.
Working.
There are so many limitations....
I feel as though I am hand cuffed.
*
I am not used to this
*.
When you have your own design firm,
the only limitations on your creativity
are the ones you choose to set into place.
I had none.
The limitations that I did have were the result of
the capabilities of a workroom or manufacturer.
'Design' is the air I breath.
*
So.....since I am working for someone else....
My soul is starving to death.
I have very little free time....
So, I have decided to start painting again....
"I need to feed."
If  I have been M.I.A. for a few days
it's because I was preparing a canvas or two.
I am going to attempt the picture at the top of this post.
In addition...
last night I thought I was witnessing
the end of my 'ex' mother-in laws life.
It was very scary, and very real.
But she is fine today....
like nothing ever happened.

Life is so fragile and so weird.

So....how are you guys doing?
Anything new?

XX's and hugs

Three South Florida Design Stars Make The Prestigious AD 100

SCOTT SNYDER Palm Beach and New York
Snyder is not the designer clients hire to get the latest ``look.'' He doesn't do trendy. His philosophy during the past 25 years has been the same: Timeless design that doesn't need to look dated.
``I do not practice what you could call disposable design that could almost be considered fashion,'' says Snyder, who is on the list for the fourth time. ``We are more apt to buy clothing that's disposable.
``This is important especially in times when some people are feeling a definite change in their economic circumstance -- whether it is psychological or due to taking a real financial hit.''

CHARLES ALLEM CAD International, Miami
The recession doesn't appear to have hit Allem's high-end, international clientele. Allem, who grew up in Johannesburg says he creates in a variety of styles from Art Deco to Louis XIV, but the results are all comfortable and luxurious. That luxury includes walls lacquered or covered in rock crystal or quartz and sheared mink on chairs.
But his personal style is calm and minimal. He relies on a lot of white and sculptural forms in his South Beach condo. His office is also sleek and minimalistic.
``I like blank space to think in and create,'' says Allem, who is on the list for the fourth time. ``Personally, I like very calm, understated and restrained luxury.''

JOHN BARMAN Miami Beach and New York
Designers often say that their inspiration comes from everywhere, especially from clients. But when the client is a creative person, the style may not be so easy to interpret, such as when jazz musician Wynton Marsalis played the piano in his living room as inspiration for Barman.
``It was very difficult,'' says Barman, who is on the list for the third time. ``I'm a decorator, not a musician. The things he played were very happy and up and lively. I tried to incorporate that feeling into his interior.
``It's a little bit jazzy, comfortable, a little bit fun but not too unexpected. The colors are bright yellows, reds and bright blues. And because jazz has New Orleans inspiration, some of the patterns were New Orleans inspired.''

*go to see his work here   YOU MUST GO AND SEE, it is faboo

I am absolutely crazy for John Barman's work.
What do you think?
I think it is  original and rich.

Design Challenges are great.

And because of those challenges

I have imported fine antique pieces from Paris,

Designed and Manufactured Furniture,

Created Fantastic Window Treatments,

And solved all kinds of spatial & architectural issues

With my unique style.

If I can't find it, I create it.

My rooms would make excellent movie sets.

I am a visual, tactile and audio sensitive individual.

Creating is what I live for, not math, not spelling, not science.

Just Great Design.

Just imagine how it would be if each of us,

If only for a few hours of everyday,We could be in a space that is our very own.A place that is exactly the way we want it to be

Surrounded by all the things we wanted to see,

The atmosphere we wanted feel, smell and the sound we wanted to listen to.
