Decorators have feelings, too.

Decorators have feelings too.

"Redecorating involves an ongoing, intimate relationship with someone you've probably just met and who is going to know everything -- and I mean everything -- about you and your immediate entourage. And no matter how successful they are, many decorators need to know that you really, really want to work with them. "Being nice and mentioning that they love your work are basic," says Victoria Hagan, who only takes on entire homes. "Decorating is about matchmaking and is based on trust and mutual respect," she adds. "It's about creating something beautiful with people you care about."

1960's Classique

"Architect Richard Zingale and interior designer Sandra Chancey created a soothing retreat using a minimalist, geometric design and modernist influences."
Isn't this rich ? It takes me back to another time..........
I like it. I grew up with a girl who's parent's home was very similar to both the exterior, and interior of this place..
...And so dissimilar to my family home.
I was surrounded with everything traditional.
Everything that is done in this home reflects the 1960's.
All of the good from the 60's era, and the bad forgotten.
The light floors are refreshing, clean , and airy.
'Airy' is always good.
One thing though,...it is very important that your wood floor is finished in just the right color/shade. If you don't watch the staining process carefully you could end up with a pink hue in the floor.
No Good.
No Pinks.

"The client — philanthropist and art collector Norma Gene Lykes — first found a house to renovate in her own neighborhood, the Hyde Park historic district along Tampa Bay in Florida. But obstacles prevailed, and she decided to demolish that house and build a new one with a 1960s-inspired aesthetic. Both Zingale and Chancey had worked with Lykes previously, and the three tackled the project as a team."

I think this home is a knockout!
The architecture is 1960's style.
And today, it is truly a Classique!!
I would live here in heart beat.

I would like to know, do you like this home??
Could you live in it, or is it too modern and cold for you??

I know some of you have much different styles....
but can you appreciate it?
I think what I like about this home is that it reminds me of the homes in Miami Beach, from the 1960's when I was growing up.

Semi-Permanent Tents

An alternative to a traditional home.

"Glen Lajeski spied a newspaper ad listing acreage for sale. Intrigued, the Disney executive asked his host if they could look at the land on their way to the airport. Lajeski’s friend hesitated. “I know when you see this property,” he cautioned, “it’s going to change your life.”

"Strolling the 160-acre parcel the following day, Lajeski found babbling brooks and Technicolor hillsides flush with wildflowers. Gauzy strands of moss hung from the oak trees overhead, while verdant vineyards sprawled across the valley below."

So he built a compound of 3 buildings for his family and occasional guests.
This is a TENT. The walls are canvas. This , to me, is brilliant.
What a fabulous idea!
First you can find a beautiful piece of property and if you can not afford to build a home now, or can't wait to enjoy the property....build one of these.
Or one of these......
This is another tent style called a Resort/Mughal Tent. You can see (at the sources I have provided below) all the styles and price ranges that they come in.

In Case You Are Curious About Mughal Tents.....

"The Mughal Emperor Akbar, is said to have lavishly patronized art during his era, his style was a mixture of Persian and Indian motifs, which gets reflected in the magnificent Tents, Carpets, Furniture, captured by the Ottoman army in the seventeenth century. The Sultan had his court in a huge encampment of hundreds, even thousands of Tents, at the center of which was the 'Tented Palace' called the 'Imperial Tent Complex'. The imperial tents were pavilions, walled in by a symbolic rampart of cloth and recognized by their size and the splendor of their decoration, both inside and out. Around the royal enclosure were grouped other imposing Tents of diminishing size belonging to high-ranking officers and officials. Within the royal enclosure is a great variety of Tents of differing size and function, including a Kitchen Tent, Dining Tent, Women's Tent, Bath Tents, Toilet Tents and Stable Tents."
These sites have all kinds of fabulous Indian Decor as well.
Go. Take a peek. You will not be disappointed

‘Alice in Wonderland’

is being remade by Tim Burton. Who has once again
partnered with Johnny Depp and
Helena Bonham Carter.
I can hardly wait.

But, I thought it was the end of Smurf Blue eye shadow. Or at least I was praying hard that it would be !
Yet it is quite effective in this application as seen here on Helena Bonham Carter. I must say I have never seen it being effective on anyone else,
unless of course it is Halloween.
The super fabulous Johnny Depp, he grew up in Margate Florida. Margate is west of Pompano Beach , which is the next town north of Ft Lauderdale.
In case you were wondering, which you probably weren't ....but, oh well. There it is anyway.
Mia Wasikowska will play Alice.
The sets are going to be delicious to my eye. I am excited , I feel like a kid just thinking about it.
I loved the original 'Alice in Wonderland'. But, this one is
going to be 'art'.
