Black , Black, Black, Is Chic, Chic, Chic

This is the glamorous and ever so Chic Black Bamboo. I  love love love !

Can you imagine ? This is a close up of it growing.
I mean, this looks as though someone hand painted a bit of gold on it. But it is just growing.....
Tre Chic.
So wild. So green.

I think this grouping of black bamboo would look fabulous bordered with black mondo grass.
This is black mondo grass. It is normally used as a border, but it can also be placed in a planter. Then it looks a bit like a Phyllis Diller wig. Which I love.
This is a typical application. See it along the grass ?
This is what it looks like when it blooms. It doesn't get very tall , about 6" high is all.

Is this glamorous, or what ?  [ see....Phylis Diller Wig, Right ?]
"Description: The ultimate Gothic grass - the black mondo is an evergreen perennial with shiny grass-like foliage forming small slow spreading clumps. The black leaves look fabulous in contrast to ferns and lighter green grasses. The white flowers appear in summer followed by dark black-blue fruit."

Native to: Korea
Hardiness: Full-half hardy
Sun: Full-partial sun
Soil: Any fertile well drained soil
Flower: Violet - white
Leaf: Black
Flowering period: June to August
Maintenance: The black leaves look fabulous in contrast to ferns and lighter green grasses.
Black Mondo is drama.
See how it is growing in this planter? If you were to have a large shallow planter ( round or rectangular), it will grow all the same height, and evenly. Do this in a planter on an outdoor cocktail, or dining table.....you will be quite pleased.

This Black Mondo grass is so inspiring that artists have painted it. I think it is unexpected, and can be a show stopper if it is used in the right application. It seems to just accentuate what ever else it is in, or with. It can be another design tool. And unexpected .
Do you likie ??

One Door Closes....

And the hallway is  Hell !!
When things in life do not go as you planned , like losing a beloved job, or wanting a relationship to work out, that does not.

For ' some ' it can be a constant task to feel as though things will get better. It is the difficult job of putting yourself out there all over again, exposed to the world.

Willing to be judged, take the hit on the chin if need be, and get right back up again. And for many , only to get smacked down again, and again.
What is it the politicians keep saying in these days ? " It's the fabric America is made of,"
" Americans always persevere. We are hard workers, innovators, winners , and a caring and forgiving people."

Remember.....
It's only when you can see a cracked open door, or a little stream of light, that you can hold on to your ' hope.
But, see it !
We have a big lifestyle  change coming down the American Road , and I for one am happy about it.
I think that we had lost our way, and we are on our way back.
It may be too slowly for some to be saved financially, but we will find our way back again. Not necessarily because we are Americans, but because we are human.
Let's face it, 'Survival' is the only game in town.
" One door closes, and another door opens ."
Sure the door opens, eventually. Some are lucky right away, and some must polish up their skills
(or develop them ) of 'patience.'
Just don't give up before the miracle happens.

I Went, Did You.....

And while I was there I ran into a an old local beach bum.
Meet ' Lenny Lizard Skin,'
Lenny just couldn't seem to pull himself out of the sun.
It was so sunny , yet cool and breezy at the beach.
An amazingly beautiful day.

Lenny said; " Put on that sunscreen I tell you" , " or you'll end with skin like me!! "
( I did )
But, I did get all wrapped up in the beauty of the day.... my writing, walking & listening to my ipod loaded with my favorite brazillian jazz.
After chatting with Lenny ( which was beginning to feel like forever) I thought he'd never move off that post and away from me. He didn't.
That's if you don't count when that nut job jumped off the post, following me down to the surf trying to walk with me, while ruining my pace. He couldn't keep up, and he kept complaining about the sand being too hot for his little feet. If I didn't let him ride on my shoulder for the duration of my walk, I would have burned zero calories.
The walk was wonderful.....

So,  as much as I enjoyed his company, with the exception of constant negative remarks about my skin, the hot sand , fat people, too skinny people, screaming kids... you name it.
It was time to head home.
I did , and inspite of Lenny , and in addition to Lenny, I had a great day.

Late Sunday Afternoon       xxxxx

Do It This Morning

I am,  and this will be my morning walk..............
This beach is down the street from me, I get so lost in my tiny world that I forget to go to the place that makes me feel the best. Why would I do that ? It is only after I get to the beach, that I could kick myself for not doing this more, and more, and more.
I mean, even a bad day at the beach is still beautiful. Stormy weather at the beach is dreamy.
They have replaced the grass recently with ' putting green ' grass, so it is like a green velvet carpet.  And the sand is new as well.
Imagine...getting new sand !
Hey, but it works just fine for me. And it is without question, better.
Will you do something, or go somewhere today that makes you feel good about life and yourself ?
C'mon... if you are reading this, I know you deserve it !!

House's House

I always seem to watch his show...........without planning to.
I like the concept behind this kitchen, It seams like way too much kitchen for House.
Yes ?   No ?
Somehow, I can't see him hobbling around that kitchen making a gourmet dinner. Chop Chop Chop goes the cilantro, and into the salad........."red or white wine my dear , we are having fish in
a bouillabaisse ?"
Nah, I can not see that happening.
I think he is more likely to  grab the sandwich right out of your hand and eat it.
I get a kick out of 'House.'
This is sooooo ' guys ' living room.
And I might as well say it; YUCKO.
The Set Decorator Danielle Berman has really done a great job planting his TV personality into his home and office.

A Horse-Womans Sitting Room

This room looks like a horse-woman may regularly crash down here on the sofa, after a hard ride. She might rest her polished,  yet slightly dirty boots up on the rugged cocktail table, then finally have that tall glass of iced tea ( with mint) that she has been longing for.

No longer parched, she hits 'play' , and the song 'Moon River' flows out of the speakers, she closes her eyes just to listen to her song.........but in a moment, she is gone.
zzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

I have been in this business since the age of 22.

I love what I do and cannot imagine my life without Design.

Design Challenges are great.

And because of those challenges

I have imported fine antique pieces from Paris,

Designed and Manufactured Furniture,

Created Fantastic Window Treatments,

And solved all kinds of spatial & architectural issues

With my unique style.

If I can't find it, I create it.

My rooms would make excellent movie sets.

I am a visual, tactile and audio sensitive individual.

Creating is what I live for, not math, not spelling, not science.

Just Great Design.

Just imagine how it would be if each of us,

If only for a few hours of everyday,We could be in a space that is our very own.A place that is exactly the way we want it to be

Surrounded by all the things we wanted to see,

The atmosphere we wanted feel, smell and the sound we wanted to listen to.
