Home & - Kitchen Designer of the Year 2014

Egan Wieser

I chose this kitchen from his website
because I thought it was so unusual.

What are your feelings on this kitchen design?

Hope all are well out there in Bloggy-Ville

  1. It is unusual. Not sure I like this one, it doesn't look like a kitchen to get comfy in, just go in, do the job, get out. No warmth. I do, however, love the light fitting.

  2. I feel like whoever lives here and uses this kitchen doesn't really cook or eat at home, they just do take-out. While the kitchen is eye-catching, I don't know how practical it is. Where is the dishwasher? Why is the one sink so small if you only have it to wash dishes in? Where is the microwave? Where is the refrigerator/freezer? Looking at the cabinetry, I can see they rarely eat at home or entertain, because of there are hardly any plates, bowls, or cups. I realize that some of those things could be stowed inside the cabinetry, but there are hardly any cabinets to hold pots, pans, etc. in addition to all of the other things one uses in a real kitchen. It bothers me that the cabinet to the right of the range wasn't brought forward enough to look 'finished'. There seems to be enough space on that wall to have two cabinets the same larger size on either side of the range, which would have looked more balanced. They could have then elongated the entire line of cabinetry over to where it almost reached the door trim, rather than stopping awkwardly short, as it does now. I agree that the light fixture is amazing though!

That being said, after reviewing his website and seeing several more of his projects, his work is beautiful and very spare. I love how he juxtaposes the modern with aspects of original, extravagant trim in some cases. You can see that in this kitchen you have shared with us. The floors are beautiful, the original moldings are amazing, and the fireplace is wonderful.

Thanks for sharing his work with us Renee!

  3. Hi Renée ….. I actually quite like that kitchen. I probably wouldn't have it myself but, I like it because it's different. I don't like kitchens { or any other rooms for that matter } that all look the same.
….and, of course, I love the original features in the room.
Hope that you are well Renée …… Much love. XXXX
