Knoll - Barcelona Chairs

Knoll - Barcelona Chairs
Mies Van der Rohe

Remember the Farnsworth House ?

Yep, ....same guy.

In 1927 he designed one of his most famous buildings, the German pavilion at the international exposition in Barcelonain 1929. This small hall, known as the Barcelonapavilion (for which he also designed the famous chrome and leather 'Barcelona chair'), had a flat roof supported by columns. The pavilion’s internal walls, made of glass and marble, could be moved around as they did not support the structure. The concept of fluid space with a seamless flow between indoors and outdoors was further explored in other projects he designed for decades to come.
Mies began working with Lilly Reich, who remained his collaborator and companion for more than ten years.

The Farnsworth House - Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969)

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969)

I have dream't about this house all my life.
The very first time I came across it in a magazine…….
I have wanted to be in it, eat in it, play in it, entertain in it and sleep in it.
Ah…..just to live in it.

I think it is truly perfection.

It is almost as though you are living in the forest without really touching it.
It is so airy….the air flows over it, along the sides and underneath it.

You would almost be floating don’t you think ?

This is on the side of a little art gallery in Spruce Head , Maine called La Petite Gallery.
Right now in Camden , Rockland, and most of MID-COAST Maine there are great art shows going on. These shows exhibit all the famous and not so famous ( yet ) local artist's work.
Maine is the most beautiful place to be in the summer months.

About Renée Finberg

I have been in this business since the age of 22.

I love what I do and cannot imagine my life without Design.

Design Challenges are great.

And because of those challenges

I have imported fine antique pieces from Paris,

Designed and Manufactured Furniture,

Created Fantastic Window Treatments,

And solved all kinds of spatial & architectural issues

With my unique style.

If I can't find it, I create it.

My rooms would make excellent movie sets.

I am a visual, tactile and audio sensitive individual.

Creating is what I live for, not math, not spelling, not science.

Just Great Design.

Just imagine how it would be if each of us,

If only for a few hours of everyday,We could be in a space that is our very own.A place that is exactly the way we want it to be

Surrounded by all the things we wanted to see,

The atmosphere we wanted feel, smell and the sound we wanted to listen to.

Private Paradise
