Happy Mothers Day

and after the morning breakfast in bed, the old movies, and a nap...
we should have a late lunch at The Russian Tea Room!!!!
wow
that would make my mom soooooo happy.

It would be so grand if I could do this for my mom.
I can't.
She is unwell and in Maine getting ready for some major surgery.
She is in unbelievable pain.
I will go up after the surgery to stay with her for a while and help her.
I am going to make 'a mothers day' when I am up there with her!!!!

Kiss Your Mom Today -
and tell her how you feel about her.

I Love Tight Back Sofas

Elegant

Versatile

Tailored & Sophisticated

I hate multi-cushion sofas.
My preference ALWAYS is a BENCH SEAT { 1 cushion }
or a 2 cushion sofa if they will not make a single cushion/bench seat.

&

Do YOU KNOW WHY
there are multi-cushion sofas in the first place??????
When sofas were first being made....
obviously they were made for the 'well to do',
and they made only bench seats
{one single set cushion}.
The rest of us were sitting on hay bales.
I mean where do you think the pioneer woman shopped ?

Sure the saloons and whoooooore houses had them...
and in the big cities.....
the wealthy had them......
stick with me here....
I am getting to the point.

The bench seat takes more yardage than a 2 cushion
or 3 cushion sofa....RIGHT???
When catalog shopping {Sears}
and mass production came along they realized
they could use the scrap fabric for multi-cushioned sofas.
So there.....!!!!!
That my story and I am sticking with it.

In Boca Raton and I am sure else where as well.....
people fight me
and always say when I want to use a bench seat on their new sofas;

" No One wants to sit on the crack "
and I say;
" But you sit on a crack everyday, and it doesn't bother you! "

Of course they laugh...but they are still not convinced...
and when I tell them the 'scrap fabric' story',
{since here in Boca Raton they are status conscience}
they go for the bench seat or at least the 2 cushion sofa!!!
AWWWWW....at last!

Funny story right?

Tight back sofas give you the choice of having a cleaner-sleeker look
or you can have a very inviting look with custom pillows.
That's what I like.

I love this sofa.

And I found this one for a client of mine on a budget.
*Actually this sofa is more refined that the one above.

DON'T throw up from the fabric!!!
When it is recovered.....
It will be gorgeous.

I love the beat up patina on this.
I will not refinish it.
I will ad a bit of a glaze with a touch more blue/green to the finish.
I am really good at glazes.
And I love to do it.

I am going to make it into a TIGHT BACK with
fabulous custom pillows.
This sofa is 34" D   x  78" L  x  28 H
These are DREAM dimensions for me!!!
*I actually wanted the sofa myself.

I will post the sofa in it's room when completed.

What are your thoughts on TIGHT BACK sofas
and bench seats?

My Naples Escapade & A Visit To Clive -Daniel Home

A much needed reprieve from my daily grind.
Isn't Naples charming?
This is downtown.
And everyone is so sweet.
Most of the people who live here are from the mid-west!
YEAH!!!!

The flowers that are potted
are like the wild flowers you see all over Maine that are potted.
And you know how I love Maine.

That gorgeous woman is my nest friend from NYC,
she was maid of honor at my 2nd wedding.
But,
Let's not go there......
Her name is Sari and I love her like a sister.
And yes....she was a model.
She now is living in Naples.

We drove by this building and I went a bit nutzo.
I had to get out of the car and take pictures.

This is looking up in the entrance of the building.

It is a very mid century building.

The pool.
It looks very Bel-Air Calfornia.

This is the view from Sari's apartment where I was staying.
There are ducks and turtles galore.
It is very peaceful.
I feel like a new human being.

The next day I went to
Clive - Danial
Home.

I went in for an interview.
And again....
lovely people!!

Here are s few images taken there.

The store is huge and magnificent.
It is very cutting edge.

Their design department does absolutely everything,
from complete remodeling {kitchens & baths}
with an on staff architect etc etc.

For me, the showroom was living a dream.
There wasn't anything I wouldn't love to use in my own design work.

Look at these plates mounted on the wall.

A new take on the gourd lamp.
Right?

Love this dining room.
And the finishes were extraordinary.

This caught my eye.
It is very shallow.
Very.

And I am all about 'space'
so....I loved it.

The sconce in the middle was very different.
The crystals were draped like a fabric.
Another adored item!!

These discs were very clever.....
I love a long line of things mounted horizontally or vertically.

How about you??

I hope you had a lovely weekend.
I am heading back to the east coast momentarily.

XXX's
  • Things are looking up.
I have my next interview on the May 21st with a major fabric showroom at the D.C.O.T.A,
and a client just called me for some work this morning.
And then there is yesterdays interview at the above mentioned Clive - Danial.
Someone up there is looking out for me.
we will get together next time I am over here on the west coast.
She really is the best.

With my unique style.

If I can't find it, I create it.

My rooms would make excellent movie sets.

I am a visual, tactile and audio sensitive individual.

Creating is what I live for, not math, not spelling, not science.

Just Great Design.

Just imagine how it would be if each of us,

If only for a few hours of everyday,We could be in a space that is our very own.A place that is exactly the way we want it to be

Surrounded by all the things we wanted to see,

The atmosphere we wanted feel, smell and the sound we wanted to listen to.
