Try Opera Glasses and A Little Artful Display

Opera glasses are mentioned in a London Advertisement as early as 1730.
Great Design includes Great Display.
You might try a Collection of Opera Glasses.

(These are just examples, I do not particularly care for either one.....just so you get the basic concept)
An interesting thing to do when displaying opera glasses is under glass in a frame, or under the glass of a display cocktail table. You can also use a 'corbel' (bracket/shelve ) one is pictured above. You could use a contemporary piece or an ornate one, based on the look you are trying to achieve.
When I lived in NYC, I had a great pair on the end table in the living room.
You would not believe it, almost everyone would pick them up and go to the window to peep out at the other apartment windows to see what might be going on. It is more common than you might think.
I love these. When I use my opera glasses , I am always squinting with one eye anyway.
The piece pictured above would look fabulous on a long chain or silk rope worn as a necklace.
Very 'artsy fartsy'. I would wear it for sure !
And what fun , think of it.....have you ever thought that you recognized someone from across a crowded room ?

A grouping is always pretty framed on a wall. I like this because the look becomes more '3D' or 'Architectural' , giving the room more dimension and layers.

Oh my........

You can pick these up anywhere, consignment stores, antique stores , or the flea market.
They don't have to really work to look great .
Just look and you will find them.

Spruce Head Maine - An Artist's Colony

Spruce Head is so beautiful.

In the late afternoon, it is as if the lighting is candlelight.

In the morning it is crisp, clean, sunny and gorgeous !!

The trees are orange, red, pink, yellow and gold.

It is no wonder so many fine artist's gravitate to this area.

The galleries are to die for.

Camden Maine

So sorry that my camera is not better, I don't know if the lens is covered with 'schmutz' or what.
I am up here visiting my Mom, so I will not be on top of my posts.
Her computer is a very sick dinosaur !

Peak Season In Maine

You might wonder why one would choose to live here all year long, when the winters are so cold and long. The reason might be that in every season, that waterfall is beautiful along, and every other little 'wonder' here is beautiful just painted in a different palette.
Lobster is so much more delicious when it is steamed at home by your
mother. And what could be more fun than driving down the road to a magnificent home on the ocean that just happens to belong to a local 'Lobster' fisherman.

It is little wonder that there are so many artist living in and around Tenants Harbor & Spruce Head Maine.
As a matter of fact , if you like art.....there are Galleries
all over mid-coast Maine.

I am away from home and am visiting my mother, who is an artist living in Spruce Head Maine.
And I would move up to the mid-coast Maine area myself and just paint if I could. There is such a sense of community. And the natural beauty is endless.
I will get back to my design related post when I get home.
