Fresh Flowers On My Desk

They are good for the soul.
Some of you know that my boss was extremely hard on me for about 6 months.....
and at around six months at my job I decided to start
putting in a (very cool) vase on my desk fresh flowers every week.
This is something I have always done.
So my routine is that on my first day (saturday) of the week
I go to Whole Foods and pick up a bunch of flowers. I need them
When I am thinking,
and literally 'glazed over'
I stare at my gorgeous flowers
rather that staring into space (which does nothing for me).
In addition.....it reminds me that I am worthy.
I am 'gifting' myself.
I need to be surrounded by beauty to feel good about myself.
Just like Dressing well.
Feeding your self esteem is vital.
I started sneaking half of my bunch of flowers into my boss's office six months ago too.
She knows they are from me but we never discuss them.
Since I started working at my company
I have come to the realization that my boss,
Laura works harder than any woman I have ever worked with,
And she has 2 children - Need I say more?
I feel that she deserves them.
I think fresh flowers ,
right about 20 " away from your face does something to you.
I am not completely sure what it is....but it feels so good.
Warm and fuzzy I guess.
Maybe it says to one's soul " Somebody cares" or in my case it says
" I care about me, I deserve these ."
There is a desk in the distance with a plant not fresh flowers.
But I had to post this image because I love it.
Everything about it!!!!!

BTW......
Things have been very nice at work. Laura has been kind and friendly.
Call it brown nosing if you choose to....my coworkers do.
hahahahahhaah
But it comes from the heart.

How do fresh flowers affect you???

5,000 Gallons A Day

Gulf Shores, AL
(did i say 5,000....it is more like 25,000 barrels a day as has been updated today)
But if you are drilling for oil in my ocean.....go away.
*Alabama Coast.

Dr. Beach,” has been ranking America’s top ten beaches. In 2008 he named Caladesi the best beach in America. Fortunately, the Florida Park Service began acquiring the property on Caladesi Island in 1966,
ensuring that it will be preserved in its natural state

for generations to come. I don't think so......!!!

The sugar sand beaches of the panhandle. ( it is really more like powdered sugar)
There are really no beaches like them.

I hope these are G-d's foot prints in the sand.
We are going to need him!
And for certain....it will be nothing less than a miracle if this oil volcano under the sea can be stopped from flooding out into the ocean.
Let's face it, all the oceans run into each other.
What will happen to the porpoises ???
...and everything else in the ocean?
This oil rig F--k up is nothing less than a crime against humanity in my eyes.
This oil screw up will eventually creep all the way to the other side of Florida ( into the Atalntic) if they can't stop the oil from gushing into the Gulf.

Are you watching the news?
How do you feel about this tragedy?
Am I over-reacting????

Some Beauty Doesn't Fade

This post is about my attraction to Portuguese Tiles.
The Moors had their hand in the original designs, including patterns and colors.

Below you will see some applications done with these works of art.

This will always be my kind of style....it is forever!!
If you like it too you can...

I was completely smitten for life.
*Smitten;
If you are smitten, you find someone so attractive that you are or seem to be in love with them.
They were totally smitten with each other
If you are smitten by something, you are very impressed by it and enthusiastic about it.

I was never a blue person really.
But I was at the design center in Manhattan in the late 70's , there was this very dark walnut square cocktail table with Portuguese Tile in the center. I was of course drawn to it. So I inquired ,and it turned out that Anne Bancroft had originally ordered it because she was going to be in a show on Broadway and needed to furnish an apartment. The show was cancelled and she never took possession the table. Guess who did take possession????
That's right. Me!!!
I had it for many years until I gave it to my cousin who being the idiot that he is....
lost it or gave it away. I mean that in the nicest way - snicker, snicker.

The glazed ceramic tiles "azulejos" were imported from Spain and the motifs and techniques were all Spanish-Muslim.

Do you like these tiles?
Could you think of a place to incorporate them into your home?

Created Fantastic Window Treatments,

And solved all kinds of spatial & architectural issues

With my unique style.

If I can't find it, I create it.

My rooms would make excellent movie sets.

I am a visual, tactile and audio sensitive individual.

Creating is what I live for, not math, not spelling, not science.

Just Great Design.

Just imagine how it would be if each of us,

If only for a few hours of everyday,We could be in a space that is our very own.A place that is exactly the way we want it to be

Surrounded by all the things we wanted to see,

The atmosphere we wanted feel, smell and the sound we wanted to listen to.
