My Soul Is Starving

My soul is starving for the freedom to create!
Create something original with no constrictions.
Working for someone else is just that.
Working.
There are so many limitations....
I feel as though I am hand cuffed.
*
I am not used to this
*.
When you have your own design firm,
the only limitations on your creativity
are the ones you choose to set into place.
I had none.
The limitations that I did have were the result of
the capabilities of a workroom or manufacturer.
'Design' is the air I breath.
*
So.....since I am working for someone else....
My soul is starving to death.
I have very little free time....
So, I have decided to start painting again....
"I need to feed."
If  I have been M.I.A. for a few days
it's because I was preparing a canvas or two.
I am going to attempt the picture at the top of this post.
In addition...
last night I thought I was witnessing
the end of my 'ex' mother-in laws life.
It was very scary, and very real.
But she is fine today....
like nothing ever happened.

Life is so fragile and so weird.

So....how are you guys doing?
Anything new?

XX's and hugs
rf

Three South Florida Design Stars Make The Prestigious AD 100

SCOTT SNYDER Palm Beach and New York
Snyder is not the designer clients hire to get the latest ``look.'' He doesn't do trendy. His philosophy during the past 25 years has been the same: Timeless design that doesn't need to look dated.
``I do not practice what you could call disposable design that could almost be considered fashion,'' says Snyder, who is on the list for the fourth time. ``We are more apt to buy clothing that's disposable.
``This is important especially in times when some people are feeling a definite change in their economic circumstance -- whether it is psychological or due to taking a real financial hit.''

CHARLES ALLEM CAD International, Miami
The recession doesn't appear to have hit Allem's high-end, international clientele. Allem, who grew up in Johannesburg says he creates in a variety of styles from Art Deco to Louis XIV, but the results are all comfortable and luxurious. That luxury includes walls lacquered or covered in rock crystal or quartz and sheared mink on chairs.
But his personal style is calm and minimal. He relies on a lot of white and sculptural forms in his South Beach condo. His office is also sleek and minimalistic.
``I like blank space to think in and create,'' says Allem, who is on the list for the fourth time. ``Personally, I like very calm, understated and restrained luxury.''
to see his work go here

JOHN BARMAN Miami Beach and New York
Designers often say that their inspiration comes from everywhere, especially from clients. But when the client is a creative person, the style may not be so easy to interpret, such as when jazz musician Wynton Marsalis played the piano in his living room as inspiration for Barman.
``It was very difficult,'' says Barman, who is on the list for the third time. ``I'm a decorator, not a musician. The things he played were very happy and up and lively. I tried to incorporate that feeling into his interior.
``It's a little bit jazzy, comfortable, a little bit fun but not too unexpected. The colors are bright yellows, reds and bright blues. And because jazz has New Orleans inspiration, some of the patterns were New Orleans inspired.''

*go to see his work here   YOU MUST GO AND SEE, it is faboo

I am absolutely crazy for John Barman's work.
What do you think?
I think it is  original and rich.

Emilio Pucci And Capellini

This was EMILIO PUCCI’S shop on East 64th when I lived there.
Looking in the windows was like looking in a candy shop.
The master at work.

A few Vintage frocks,

I would have loved a pair of these.
You know people have tried imitate his designs.....but you can always tell the difference.

Get  a load of this....
Emilio Pucci was so much the man of the 60's that he was commissioned
to design the uniforms for Braniff Airlines.

Braniff Airways introduced imaginative new flight attendant uniforms created by famed fashion designer Emilio Pucci. The plastic bubble helmet, to protect hairdos on windy tarmacs, was an integral part of the Pucci-designed uniforms.

I wonder if they wore those nutty helmets?
The new shop on 5th.

Pucci painted his first scarf in 1949. Hand-colored drawings for scarves from the 1960s and ’70s typify the vibrant colors and patterns that characterized his work.
Handbags from the ’60s and ’70s. Pucci once said of his designs, which defined an era, “I revolutionized fashion because of intuition. Certain things were in the air.”

Silk jersey and silk organza dresses in several silhouettes from his 1970 collections hang in a closet.
In 2001 the firm joined forces with Cappellini to produce a new line of furniture.
The designer’s daughter, Laudomia, and his widow, Marchesa Cristina Pucci di Barsento,
continue the Archivio Emilio Pucci which is dedicated to preserving his dynamic legacy.

Did any of you own a Pucci dress or scarf ??
Did you like his dresses?
And what do you think about Pucci joining forces with Capellini?
I like the idea.

A Little More Law and Order Is Needed

ACTOR CHRISTOPHER MELONI’S APARTMENT

The Melonis. “She did a great job with the colors, which are in harmony with those outside,” the actor says of his wife, a former set designer who decorated the apartment.
*Interior Design by Sherman Meloni of Sherman Williams Design
I am addicted to Law & Order.
And SVU is my favorite.
I have always wondered about :

CHRISTOPHER MELONI.

How does he live , and is  he married, etc, etc.

His wife, who is a set designer.....drool drool.
I wish I were a set designer.
But that would mean I would have to move to NYC.
Let me just say, I would love to move back.
L.A. is out of the question....earthquakes, mudslides, and no real seasons,
Look at the macasser on the built in!
Gorgeous.
The spread here borders on hideous.
*just my opinion

Which is your favorite Law and Order?

Who are your Favorite characters?

Now, what I really need is 'STABLER' (Christofher Melloni)
to investigate my mothers late night phony phone calls.

Ring Ring Ring
"Hold on.....'Stabler"'....... it's 'Stabler' on the phone....
he has agreed that  he would to go to my moms blog to check out her situation!
*She has had some crazy late night phone calls.
And there are some really creepies on the loose.

A Little Clammy, A Little Dizzy.....I've Got To Get Out Of Here!

I finished  an early morning appointment. with a client.
I don;t really know what it was, but it was 'something'.
that made start to feel anxiety about walking in to the store.
...I never know what I am walking into.,,,and that is my issue,
the fear of the unknown.
And that single thought in my head....can get me pretty worked up,
Oh, yes, it did.

By the time i got to the showroom, I was already getting clammy and dizzy.
And let's not leave out nausea accompanied by the  feeling of being overwhelmed.

I couldn't stand the thought of working until 9 Pm tonight with PEOPLE!!!
When a new person walks in the door; " IT'S SHOWTIME "
OMG.....all the People i will have to attempt to connect with,,,,,,,eeeeeeewww
*it is often worse that watching or living through  "FRIDAY THE 13th"
Some shoppers I believe may have had a supporting rolls in this film.

So I actually asked to go home because I wasn't ' feeling well.'
I could never have told that her I was having panic attack.
She doesn't 'get me' on a good day.

What are your thoughts on this subject?

xxx

*And I know, I know....
I have been working on the panic issue for years.
...but once in a while he pops up again

I have been in this business since the age of 22.

I love what I do and cannot imagine my life without Design.

Design Challenges are great.

And because of those challenges

I have imported fine antique pieces from Paris,

Designed and Manufactured Furniture,

Created Fantastic Window Treatments,

And solved all kinds of spatial & architectural issues

With my unique style.

If I can't find it, I create it.

My rooms would make excellent movie sets.

I am a visual, tactile and audio sensitive individual.

Creating is what I live for, not math, not spelling, not science.

Just Great Design.

Just imagine how it would be if each of us,

If only for a few hours of everyday,We could be in a space that is our very own.A place that is exactly the way we want it to be

Surrounded by all the things we wanted to see,

The atmosphere we wanted feel, smell and the sound we wanted to listen to.
