No Hillbillies Here.....For Sure!

Hillbilly - the definition A person from the backwoods or a remote mountain area.

That's what you might think from this first picture. Right?

Do you want to go inside and see how beautiful this place is?
I think it is the perfect place for all of us blogging pals to spend a nice long weekend.

Let's go down the English garden path to the house.
You will love it.
I know I do.

Could you die?
I am. I am dying right her in bed while I am tapping these words out on my little laptop.
* my little laptop just got back from the hospital ( after the magic ass episode) and is doing well...thank you very much!!!

Could you have a sweet dream here?
I could.

Check out the little French cafe chairs.
I can see us sitting around that very table 'dishing' the dirt.....
*dishing what we dare not type out and put on our blogs.
Wouldn't it be fun?

Anyway, back to this gorgeous place.
I love this kitchen.....the cabinets and the finish is too yummy.
I don't need to say a word about the appliances. Do I?

Oh look...it's me. All  ready for my morning ride.

Would you enjoy a weekend in this home?
Don't you think a blogging pal weekend would be fun?
Could you dish ?

*Is this place too rustic for you?

overcoming one small fear

The important thing is to take that first step.
Bravely overcoming one small fear gives you
the courage to take on the next.
By Buddhist Philosopher Daisaku Ikeda
*I want to be like the person who
wears ‘LIFE’  life like a loose garment.
Lately my garment feels like a lined  with lead full-body motorcycle suit.

I am grateful that my job isn't long distance swimming. Right?
Although....in this economy it is beginning to feel that way.
I do suit up and show up everyday for life.
I often have to ‘fake it’until I make it.
I mean I fake feeling happy ….until I do feel happy.
Wednesday night I did a presentation/design job on a home
for an older newly married couple.

Everything was beautiful, and so we ordered everything.

Don't you know, in the morning my client called and was scared,
she said "it all happened too quickly."
So everything was put on hold. Of which I had to explain to my boss Laura.
I understand her feelings..........
and if I were still designing for myself at my own company,
I would have gone more slowly with them.

It does feel like rejection, and there is that one small detail....
I do have 'numbers' to make every month.

I did FINALLY get her to go online and view my portfolio, she was comforted.
She then said:"do it like one of these rooms."
I said "no problem,I design like that in my sleep."
But here is my point, people assume that
if the design service is free, it must be worthless.
Often ( and in this case), the fear is from having worked previously
with designers that screwed things up (furniture store designers)
And if you are a designer, you know how the wreckage
from BAD DESIGNERS on the public can affect your livelihood.
Right?
*the very real truth of this matter is that if I were working for myself.....
they couldn't afford me.
I could not sell them the same goods at the same discounted prices, much less do everything that I have done for them for no additional fees.
That includes measuring every inch of the interior of their home, and drawing it to scale.
In other words, making them a new blue print of their home for the purpose of the interior design.
...and no...i never let it out of my hands until the job is done.

...sometimes i wonder, "how will i ever get through these days?"

The 7100 Club.....The Pits

This is a BIG BOY with the armless pieces measuring -
45 d x 36 h x 40.5 w
the corner piece is 45 x 45...................but OMG, it is comfy and cozy.

This big boy is not cheap. A good part of the cost is in the labor and fabric.
Remember every single piece has to be upholstered with 54" goods (fabric)
and it is manufactured by hand in North Carolina, USA.
yippee!!!! i mean it
Be prepared, as far as retail sofa's go, this one can be quite pricy.
Just pick the lowest grade fabric that you can work with for the body.

Seriously, if you are looking for a huge, deep sectional ....this might be the one.
The advantage of 'pit' style sectionals (this one is the 7100 series from Huntington House)
is that you can re-figure them if you should need to.
Maybe for a room change or a whole new house and floor plan.
Once you get into this sectional it is hard to ever leave it.
I promise.
Huntington House has fantastic fabrics. The selection is endless.
I think they may have more than any other company.
There is no extra cost for the bells and whistles either.
The sofa is priced on the body fabric grade. You can choose ANY GRADE fabric for the pillows and then you can add any trims at no charge. This is a pretty sweet deal if you ask me.
Check it out here.
Click on 'dealer locater' if you would like to find out more about the company and their product.

Could you see yourself in this sectional ??
I definitely could!!

Accept It Or Walk Away

Ernest Hemingway once said
“If something is wrong, fix it if you can.

But train yourself not to worry:
Worry never fixes anything.”

I can worry and worry about this house being a wreck..........
nothing will change it's condition

if all I am doing is obsessing
about it's shabby broken down state..

I need to accept it
the way it is and get geared up for the long challenging road ahead,
or walk away and accept the loss.
That is if I want peace in my head and in my life.
But If I want to change it... I will have to do it.
When I say change it , I mean the ' house.'

We really can not change very much in our lives.
We can change ourselves....if that.
And if you have tried to change any core personality traits of your own
you know how difficuly it is.
Not impossible.
Difficult.
I just need to decide where I want to be......
or here!!

....Needless to say I am reflecting on things in my own life.
How hard is it for you to accept situations that upset you?
I know it is simple in concept, but it is not always easy.

p.s. Hemingway's words do not lend too much encouragement for me
considering how his own personal story ended..
I know he suffered from depression....
and worry and negative thinking is how it takes it's first baby steps in to your head.
Or, at least MINE.

hugs & xxx's

About Renée Finberg

I have been in this business since the age of 22.

I love what I do and cannot imagine my life without Design.

Design Challenges are great.

And because of those challenges

I have imported fine antique pieces from Paris,

Designed and Manufactured Furniture,

Created Fantastic Window Treatments,

And solved all kinds of spatial & architectural issues

With my unique style.

If I can't find it, I create it.

My rooms would make excellent movie sets.

I am a visual, tactile and audio sensitive individual.

Creating is what I live for, not math, not spelling, not science.

Just Great Design.

Just imagine how it would be if each of us,

If only for a few hours of everyday,We could be in a space that is our very own.A place that is exactly the way we want it to be

Surrounded by all the things we wanted to see,

The atmosphere we wanted feel, smell and the sound we wanted to listen to.

Private Paradise
