Off The Ledge And Into The Woods

I am too scared to jump....
I have decided to get off the ledge

and go into the woods.

I need a little time in the woods to clear the head, and put things in some kind of perspective.

Maybe I can line all my little ducks up in a neat little row before I make any decision about what direction to go ....

I have been told that I am always getting my ducks in a row.....I don't like to make a move until I do. It is that ' fear of the unknown' thing.

I need to figure out what do I really want to do. Not what is practical, not what is expected, but what is it that I want. After all ...if I follow my bliss, I (and what I do) will be a success.

And there is no place that I would rather go than to The Mohonk Mountain House.

Mohonk Mountain House is a National Historic Landmark , and absolutely my idea of camping out.

How about you ?

It is hard to imagine that this is in the United States, but it is.

I think it is outrageously beautiful. And this is as close as I can get to feeling like a time traveler.

(a life long fantasy of mine)

Just look at the architecture, the grounds, and the breath taking scenery!

If you do like nature, this is a fabulous vacation spot.
Yes, there are' spa services' as well.

Rising from the rocky shore of Lake Mohonk in New York's Catskills Mountains, the Mohonk Mountain House is a National Historic Landmark and one of the greatest treasures of the Hudson Valley. "Founded in the 1870s by Quaker Albert K. Smiley and his twin Alfred H., it is still the mountain retreat they envisioned, run by more than 15 members of the Smiley family, all of whom carry on the tradition of reverence for nature espoused by their great grandfathers." Surrounding the hotel are numerous walking and hiking paths punctuated regularly with rustic bridges, railings, and gazebos perched precariously on the protruding rocks where visitors can relax and take in the glorious scenery.

The history of this place is interesting , I have provided the sites below.

This glorious place is open all year !

The Jumping Off Point

Have you ever been to
The Jumping Off Point? '
A place where you are taking on something new and unknown ?
Whether it is a new love or a new job, and with me it doesn't much matter.
You really do not know how it will turn out, or if it is worth the risk.
Or if you can actually tolerate a risk at all. The fear of the unknown is paralyzing to me .

I am not a risk taker !
I am the kind of person who has never bought a lottery ticket,
I always think about the odds, and the odds are against me.

You know , occasionally, there comes a point in ones life
that you have no choice.
You must go to
the jumping off place and jump!

Someone once said to me when speaking of faith, "Picture yourself with your eyes closed, and fall back."
"G-d will catch  you."

Another words, before you jump.....let's review;
" He is , or He is not ."
All I can say is  "I'm working on it."

And I think I will just sit here at the' jumping off place' a while longer.

Bespoke Lighting - Handblown - Rothschild And Bickers

You can choose from several glass colors including clear glass.

I particularly like the thin exposed , twisted wire.
And the attached fringe !
Elegant.
I immediately thought of Marley & Lockyer's post about a pendant lighting fixture she was looking for. I am wondering if they can make it in mercury glass as well.
That would be perfect for her.

I am impressed with the pride & quality of Rothschild & Bickers, I think you will be too.

Well....what's the verdict ?

Do we likie ?

Arturo Pani Chairs

The Chair below I am in love with. I mean in LOVE !
Arturo Pani Gilt over Iron Hand Forged Chair
Mexico City
1940s
Arturo Pani Hand Forged Iron Chair with 22kt Gilt.
Executed by Talleres Chacon. Acquired from a Polanco Residence, Mexico City.

"Arturo Pani (1915-1981?) was born in Mexico City to a well known diplomatic family. At the age of 4 in 1919 he traveled with his family to live in Europe as his father was appointed Mexico’s Counsel General to Belgium, later moving to Milan as his father’s position changed. In 1925 the family settled in Paris and remained there until 1935.
Arturo was the younger brother of Mario Pani, well known Mexican Modernist Architect and editor of the magazine Architectura/Mexico for over 40 years. After completing studies in the private school Janson de Sailly both Mario and Arturo entered the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. Mario was inclined toward architecture and Arturo chose decoration and interior design. Both brothers returned to Mexico City by 1935. Arturo’s first project was the furniture design and decoration of the family house on Lieja Street. Mario’s first major project was the construction of the Hotel Reforma in 1936 which became the emblem of Mexican Modernism. Arturo Pani was given free reign to design the furniture and interiors of the lobby and several salons of the Hotel Reforma. Diego Rivera created the murals for the one of the dining rooms. The social standing of the family allowed Arturo to begin his career with the decorating company De la Pena, Lascurain y Compania. The company took advantage of the Pani name and presented Arturo as the Senior Decorator.
Arturo Pani went on to create a career that spanned over 40 years. He became “the” decorator to the elite of Mexico City and his studio, Arturo Pani SA, remained at Niza #30 well into the 1970s. In the late 1950s Pani became known internationally for creating the “Acapulco Look”.

Do you like the look of these chairs for a dining room ? Would you do it ?

I have been in this business since the age of 22.

I love what I do and cannot imagine my life without Design.

Design Challenges are great.

And because of those challenges

I have imported fine antique pieces from Paris,

Designed and Manufactured Furniture,

Created Fantastic Window Treatments,

And solved all kinds of spatial & architectural issues

With my unique style.

If I can't find it, I create it.

My rooms would make excellent movie sets.

I am a visual, tactile and audio sensitive individual.

Creating is what I live for, not math, not spelling, not science.

Just Great Design.

Just imagine how it would be if each of us,

If only for a few hours of everyday,We could be in a space that is our very own.A place that is exactly the way we want it to be

Surrounded by all the things we wanted to see,

The atmosphere we wanted feel, smell and the sound we wanted to listen to.

Private Paradise
