The Last Surviving FERRY From ELLIS ISLAND.....IS NOW A HOME

Registered as an historical vessel with the National Register of Historical Places, The Yankee is a truly special piece of New York history that we are incredibly grateful to still have, and to see in good hands.

If I were REALLY COOL
and had the money....
or knew how to 'find' the money.....

I would want to do this.
{but differently}

I would want to save the last ferry {the YANKEE}
and
turn it into a home.
But,
I would want to lose the seats on either side of the main salon.
Can we really call it a 'SALON?'

In fact I would do everything differently.....

Don't you wonder if it were your grandparents or great grandparents
that took this very ferry from Ellis Island.
'THE YANKEE'.
You could find out if you really wanted to.

Well ...if they did come over on this ferry...
IT'S SAVED & RESTORED.
Thanks to:
, Victoria and Richard

They raise chickens....
Maybe I could have mini horses on board?

Living on a boat ...for sure I would need a cat.
So why not a MINI ???

  1. I thought visiting Ellis Island was one of the most interesting things we saw in NYC - it gave such an insight into US culture. Just loved it.

    But as for this ferry - how wonderful a notion. We toyed with buying a barge home while we were living in London. In the end, we were too nervous because we had a 3 year old at the time, but it was a very appealing idea! But a "houseboat" of this ferry size - well that is quite a big proposition. One could have so much fun kitting it out. xx

  2. Zoning laws couldn't possibly apply to living on water!

    Didn't McKenzie Childs owners have a ferry or something?

    Cats. Several own me.

  4. They are such cool people. I bought some of their jewelry for the shop but it's a little too funky for my peeps. It shows that they can decorate any place and it fits.

  7. It would be so interesting! My late husband wanted to live on a boat at one point. None had enough closet space for me! Ha!
