The Shitty Committee Meeting

The first thing I did when I got home was to call
a BIG MEETING with the SHITTY COMMITTEE that lives in my head

We talked everything over....
I am moving to Maine.

This is a new beginning in a new environment...
to say the least.
I have always wanted to live there and so I will.
AND....I will get to be with my Mom.
A Gift!!

Now I have to figure how to get the few things that I will keep up there.
I am terrified to drive a UHAUL truck to Maine,
but it is my only option at this point.

Any ideas for moving or raising money?

  1. I wondered if this was going to happen. It just seems the logical next step, with everything which has occured.

It's also very thrilling: terrifying and exciting all at once. Which is probably exactly what you need. As for the moving itself... The other day, while dropping my husband off at a car rental place (he was hiring a car for a boy's weekend), i watched a tiny woman climb into an enormous furniture moving van. She looked both terrified and excited as the owner e xplained how to drive it. But as she pulled out from the carpark in her enormous truck, she had the most animated smiling face possible. And I wondered what great adventure would await her.

So I hope it all falls into place for you, and that a grand adventure, and some soul-nourishment, awaits you. Xx

  2. I agree with every word Glamour Dropper just said...I too wish I could drive a big truck. Have needed to on so many escapades but my Sister and I are both terrified so we continue to shell out too much money to get our finds home. A fellow designer and junker recently told me to just do it. That's what she did the first time and has felt liberated every since. I wish you all the luck in the world, Renee. Sounds like you are making some very hard decisions...this effects your entire life...not just some new stuff. I don't take that lightly. I will pray for you. XO, Mona

  3. No idea what is going on but sounds like there are big changes in your life which are causing anxiety but also excitement at the prospect of being in Maine. I know your Mum will be excited about that. My prayers go out to you in all you need to do to get there. One step at a time.

  4. Frustrating Renee. Having written a comment was told 'service not available'. I'll try again.

Looks like there are some great changes in your life that are causing anxiety but also excitement at the prospect of going to Maine. I know your mother will be excited about that. My prayers go out to you in all that you have to do to make that happen. One step at a time. Blessings.

  5. Hi Renée, happy for you you came to a decision. (Love the shitty committee, lol!) It will certainly be a different lifestyle, but also an adventure and some discoveries that will make you grow. Glamour Drops painted a very positive image with the little lady driving the big truck towards her new exciting life. This WILL be you!

  6. Oooh oooh oooh I am SO excited for ya! Yep...get out of Florida...go where you can wear boots and fur hats!

YOU can drive a little truck. It is no big deal. You CAN do it. You is strong. You is beautiful. You is important.

Have a huge sale...sell everything you don't love. that will make you a little money!!

  8. I think you are fabulous enough to have an OKL sale and rake in some $$$.
I'd pick Maine over Florida any day.

  9. If I can drive a truck so can you!! Only a small truck mind so sell the rest and then just enjoy!! Of course here in Oz I have sometimes had something moved as a backload movers will often do it very cheap rather than take an empty truck back home so you could try that if the DIY is too much!!! Just talk to me all the way! Love ya Jules xxxx

  12. Start with the Garage sale.
Then do an in-house TAG sale.
The less you have to move the better.
    It's all just material things.
You are what is important. Check out the UPS
for prices. Take a deep breath and make
your to-do list. Everyday you waste, it will
take longer. I hope you get someone to drive up with you.
Big hug and Remember, you are strong and beautiful.
    I love you. Mamma XXXXXXXX

  13. I knew it! I hardly know you, and it seems like the perfect choice! I felt that fear when I first drove a horse trailer with my precious inside! But I did it, and you can do it..the best way to cure fear is ACTION! so just do it, and get on with everything! Your stuff is just stuff, but you are the most valuable thing you own, so get to Maine asap! I wish I could help you, but I kn ow how important moral support is, and you have tons here!!
    Keep us posted.

  14. Big news! La Petite Gallery has some good advice, there. If you can find a friend to make the trip with you, that would be very helpful, too. It's a big step, but when it's all said and done, you'll be in a happy place. Best of luck to you - will keep you in my prayers!

  15. Renee,
I am so proud of you dear friend. I know we have never met in person, but I feel I know you enough to tell you that making this move is far less stressful that your business start up must have been. Take Momma's advice, sell the things that mean nothing in the long run, it IS just STUFF! This I know as for ourselves, to move from a 5 bedroom house to a 40ft boat took a lot of "Letting go"! I don't miss any of it. The precious things are memories and experiences. You can't have either hanging onto a dresser or a couch or a painting - let them go. Have a huge yard sale, hire that big mother of a truck (it's only a big car) and get yer arse up north! You will feel so good about yourself once you have done it. You have wide quiet roads in the States, make an adventure of it, take loads of pictures and share it with us.

Reading through your comments it is clear that you are not doing this totally alone, only physically. Don't let your fear beat you. You are in control, not fear. I could go on Renee, but I would bet sick of my own voice!

If there is any way I could support you through this, I am here. I have made some pretty wild and exciting trips in my life with far less than you have and riddled with fears but one thing I was sure of was that I was never going to let those fears stop me. A door has opened for you, walk through it.

If you want to talk, mail me on yonks@hotmail.co.uk and I wil give you my telephone number if you want to chat.
    Much love

  16. I say YESSSSSSS! This is great news! Agree with all of the above advice. Letting go is tough. Saying Hello to the unknown is tough. So between tough and tough, go for the adventure. Sell everything/ship like Mamma said. Take deep breaths. Sail on!

  20. Dear Renee,
I cannot add anything more valuable than what has already been offered by your followers except that the more you let go of, the more room you'll have for the new. And I can't shake the feeling that LIFE has likely shaken you up so you would end up in Maine where it seems your soul belongs. You should print out these comments and take them with you on your hauling trek for they are wise and true.
    Blessings and safe traveling,
    Susan
