Living on a barge in France

I would love to get my hands on this barge in France.

I would do topiary's on either side of the door
right away.

The constantly changing view alone would be fun
and chat worthy.

Imagine this deck with the right outdoor furniture
and potted flowering plants

I would use 2 great hanging plants on this over-hang.
You could get so creative with the table and chairs.
The beauty of living on a river, on a barge is that there is very
little wake to deal with.

I can dream can't I ???
I really want this!!!

Can you envision this barge made over in your taste and style?

  1. Renee, I stayed on someone's 60' yacht in Seattle a few years ago. By the time I left I was stir crazy. Seriously. Even on a craft this large the spaces seem small & I'm from Texas (as you know) and just knew this wouldn't work for me. But a barge in France...now let me think...

  2. I would LOVE it! Being on the water is the best way to relax. I mean, what else can you do?
Yes, you could turn this into a beauty, Renee.

  3. Ok...another true story. I went to school (university) in Paris for a couple of semesters...We had to find our own lodging. While I found a room over a market street in the 17th arrondisement, a friend found her place on a barge on the Seine. Romantic sounding....but it was a little daunting (very little head clearance). Fun memories!

  4. Yes that is quite some barge and I would love to see it when you had finished with it.
Far too big for the canals and locks here though. Would be fine on the River Thames where berthing is very expensive.

  5. Yes Renee, it could be something with your touch...a man must live here now....so sterile and no nonsense....!!!!
It is the perfect colour though to let your imagination run wild! N.xo

  6. My neice lives on a Dutch Barge with her husband and one year old son Renée. It's beautiful and, she has a garden and grows fruit and vegetables. She is also a professional chef so, going to dinner with them is a wonderful experience. Her kitchen is fantastic. The one that you have shown is somewhat more luxurious and slightly larger !! XXXX

  13. Yes to everything.

But the awning must have a climber.

And it does. I'm thinking it is a rose.

The purple hyacinth bean vine would be good too.
