A Home Made Of LIVING WALLS

"You may have heard of living walls, but how about a living box?"

"The exterior walls of the new wing of the Bricault family's Venice home are clad in sedums and other succulents, which soften the contemporary architecture so it looks like a plush, verdant floating cube. Paul Bricault likes the way the horticultural house gets people talking."

I am fascinated with this concept and if you go to the link of and earlier post of mine
you will see many examples.

What a great idea to do at home for the kids.
Or for me....I have a room with a 23 foot ceiling height ,
and certainly could use the strength training.

If you could....would you ever use a living wall?

  1. When I was in California recently, I took a walking tour of several neighborhoods and was delighted by all the "living walls" that I spied. Sadly, it won't work for me. However, I do have a 30 foot tall, and wide, climbing hydrangea on the back of my house. It wraps around and hangs over my side garage door (my most used entrance) and makes me smile as I "duck in".

  6. Living wall I love; to be surrounded by green..ahhh. But have to agree with Julienne, it you have a brick home or wood siding or even stucco it can damage your siding. But...if your home is designed by a Eco conscious/fabulous architect, you'd be set to live the green life. Just call me Zsa Zsa Gabor - Green Acres here I come!

Can you imagine a climbing wall for your kids and then place that home in Venice, ahhhmazing. It could Italy or CA I'd not care.

Renee in fact, you are ahhhmazing xo xo

  9. Renee,

Love the look, for me, it's a nice place to visit but I
wouldn't want to live in it. As a child growing up in Venice CA and spending time there was fun. It's really evolved into a creative community and has been for quite some time.

One of my clients lives in Marina Del Rey CA and not that far from where I went to the beach with my parents and siblings.

When I go Art shopping with this client I give myself extra time to cruise the neighborhoods of Venice.

Creative genius of many is simply amazing.

  11. Choosing the right espaliered woody plant or vine vs. living wall.

    Choose simplicity, ALWAYS.
