Okay my peeps,
I know we mostly like 'traditional' .
But it is important
to be able to take away just
one good idea
from a design we may not be crazy about.
You can never have enough glass.
Right ?
COLD.
BUT, I like any kitchen that opens to an outdoor area.
Mine does....and I love it.
You don't ever feel claustrophobic.
I think the butcher block stairs and counter tops are an interesting idea.
I would like it in walnut or in limed oak.
The stainless drawers are a great look.
The stairs have so much work in them.
I can appreciate the workmanship.
(but I would still like it better in walnut)
But I know they had their reasons.
This is supposed to be a Swedish Family home
where they take saunas together and then jump in a cold body of water.
Which happens to be right outside.
I love to do that too!!!
The glass fireplace is fabulous.
The glass walls are fabulous.
This space is fabulous.
But.....
I would do it differently.
Would you?
Oh look!
So that's where you place those floor lamps!!!

What did you
come away with that you liked?

I love old houses, Renee....Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian and I live in a Victorian house but, if you were to give me this one, I would still love it. I love the light (mine is so dark. One of the drawbacks of old houses) and I love the clean lines. So much easier to look after than the clutter of mine (although, I have had a bit of a clear out lately!!) We all choose a style of house to live in but it doesn't mean that we can't like other styles. If something is Swedish, I know that I will like at least some of it. XXXX
ReplyDeleteness,
ReplyDeleteme too!
i love the the architecture, and the pond thingo outside too.
i would love it completely if YOU did the place. i think your design approach would work beautifully here!
xx
I would LOVE to have a structure like this on my property to have as a guest house.
ReplyDeleteI think that by using a mix of classic and antique pieces juxtaposed against the modern lines would give this space a completely different feel that most people would find inviting.
The-Countrypolitan,
ReplyDeletei think you are right.
and it is a great little place with so many great features.
the pond, the glass living room, and the open kitchen to the patio.

What I liked - the water right outside the door w/the rocks. In the winter, surrounded by snow, I imagine this place may feel magical in all its spareness.
ReplyDeleteMy Notting Hill
ReplyDeletei feel the same way about it.
it definitely see the magic.

I definitely like the wood detail on the stairs, and all of the glass. But it is just too cold for me with the main decor. I could sure make it warm though!
