A Dogs Life

I want to be this dog!
...certainly a simpler life.

THE SPLENDOR OF AMERICA’S PAST IS REBORN ON LAKE MICHIGAN
Published October 2009 in Architectural Digest
For the making of their new family residence on Chicago’s North Shore, a couple worked with architect Robert A. M. Stern and his partner Randy Correll. Victoria Hagan decorated the interiors.Landscape architect Douglas Hoerr handled the grounds. The front elevation of the 16,000-square-foot Georgian Revival-style house.

Everything in this home is smooth and subtle.
The greens & blues just work. I don't think this home is over done in the least.

The traditional and the contemporary are blended beautifully.

I love the floor.
I have the same materials and pattern on my bedroom's terrace deck.

The comforter is so comfy.
No?
*Note the covered buttons.

Great pool and a tiered lawn....I love that!

Did you see the movie ' Road to Perdition?'
I have never seen the shores of Lake Michigan, and was blown away by the sand and the water (in the movie scenes).
I never knew about the beautiful sand on the lake's shore.
It is just as if it were along an ocean shore.
This shot (below) made me think of the ending of the movie, and the sandy beach where the father
(Tom Hanks) and the son walk on the sand while heading to their hide-out.
A friend of the family's home.
I have watched this 3 times. The cinematography is outstanding.

*Do you think I am too old to get adopted?

Do you like this home?
Could you live there?

…Am I Enough ?

I was looking for some inspiration…

Because I feel exhausted.

I do too much.

I look like hell.

(I did lose that 20lbs I have wanted to lose)

A BIG PLUS For Me Is, I will not be working on Big Bird Day, and I should be looking forward to cooking with my daughter.

It is her favorite holiday, and I hate holidays.

(nice huh?)

It is a wonder that she likes them at all with my ‘ poo poo’ attitude.

I was sitting in a meeting and thinking to myself,

Something’s got to give!

I can’t go on like this.

I am on fire at both ends.

I need to stop. Just be still.

And tell myself everything is okay.

I need to realize that ‘I am doing enough.’

I am enough.

And that my best is good enough.

I was wondering what I could read that would help me to feel better about things.

So I typed in on ‘google’ the words;

‘am I enough ? ’

And I fell into a blog named:

...AND I THINK TO MYSELF, WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD

(by Nikki-Brown)

...and this post from it.

While reading it I felt the clouds lifting, and I felt a little better too.

So, I am printing this post out to read & re-read to myself while at work.

Hell, I think I will frame it and put it on my desk!

Maybe it will even send a message to ‘some people’

that I work with.

Someone is trying to chip away at me.

And yep, I am feeling worn and chipped.

This is the post:

today, i am enough

Today, I am enough.
I am smart enough.
Wise enough.
Clever enough.
Resourceful enough.
Able enough.
Confident enough.
I am connected to enough people to accomplish my heart's desire.
I have enough ideas to pull off magic and miracles.
Enough is all I need.
Enough is what I have.
I have more than enough.

As I do all that I can do, I'm able to do more and more.
I am excited to be alive.
I rejoice and re-choice every day to make my life better.
I am happy, healthy, prosperous, successful, rich, loving, loved, and beloved.
I am comfortable with myself, so I am comfortable with all others.
I confidently greet each day with a smile on my face and love in my heart.
Everyone who meets me is warmed by the radiance of my attitude.
I work on my attitude continuously.
I associate with friendly, caring, nurturing people who are involved in doing important things.
The people with whom I associate want more for me than I want for myself.
The projects with which I am involved wow my soul.
I am passionately on-purpose to do good, be good, and help others to do the same.
I am enough.
I have enough.
I do enough.

Are you enough?
Do you ever feel like I am feeling?
Would this post help you?

Is it 'FRAME WORTHY ?'
xx's to my friends

P.S.
nikki,
thank you...you helped me more than you know.

Millwork Heaven !

What could be better
than the ocean and loads of beautiful MILLWORK?

Oh yes....and shingles.

The window seat up on the landing....charming.
And more views of the ocean.

I could be blogging on on my laptop right there on that chair.

Do you like bead-board?
The cabinet door fronts have bead-board.

AND.....a fireplace!

More window seats.

Cafe and a croissant anyone??
This is sooooooooo New England-y. I love it.

If you don't play chess....would you attempt it here?

This is what you can do when you have a tight spot for a bathroom.
Custom cabinets that  'bow-out' around the sinks instead of having a deep counter straight across.

Can you believe this is in Jacksonville Florida?
Who Knew?

The Girl Was Andy Warhol's Muse ~ Her Name Was Edie Sedgwick

(see previous post)
Edie had drug and alcohol problems, and I believe that she was taken advantage of
....because of her drug use.
Including by Mr.Warhol.

And so she was DEAD at 28!

This picture of Warhol is quite apropos, regarding Edie, don't you think ?

Edie Sedgwick's Biography

(in this pic above)
This is Edie Sedgwick When ' They ' were through with her, and shortly before her death at 28 years of age.

*Edie Sedgwick had dimples and a big shiny smile in the beginning.....
You won't find many pictures of her with her great big dimples and her shiny smiling eyes.
This story is still sad to me.

Magic Ass

I could have traveled the world far and wide looking for trouble...........
And NOT found something so small and simple that was supposed to be
IDIOT PROOF.

Take my advice............do not touch M.J. ....BEWARE!!!!!
I installed this thing and suddenly all my wireless laptops no longer go online using my wireless.
So, needless to say, I am writing this post with just two fingers that I have managed to poke out through my straight jacket.
I was fine yesterday until approximately 2pm, when I installed my brand new MAGIC ASS into my desktop.
from that moment on........no wireless. I am beyond frustrated and hostile right now.
Oh...does ' crankey' sound better?
(I might get out of this straight jacket sooner)
I have been on the online HELP chat for more than 10hrs, with 5 techs. They have a neat trick ....
when the going gets tough or complicated, the tech gets going. Suddenly  you are introduced to a supervisor, and the you are introduced to someone who REALLY CAN help you.
WTF?????
Finally after NO HELP (from the REAL 'GEEK SQUAD').....I will be emailed from the imaginary engineers. HA HA.HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
(oh wait, I have to save the insane laughter which takes place while rocking in a corner till after my 'GRANNY.'chores)
It is my day off....in between taking granny (94 and senile) to the potty ( no less that 12 times), bringing her breakfast, lunch , snacks , dinner, cleaning my bathroom, sorting laundry, then back to answering granny's wacko questions with a straight face.....I can commence with my hysterical laughter. Right?

Be 'patient' with me.
I need my laptop to really post.

Anybody out there have this problem????
(not the granny problem - the MJ issue?)

millions of hugs and XX's

Miles And Miles Of Miles

Miles Redd
Let's peek through the window into his world.

I will start with this.
Firstly, I love ' redd '  mixed with zebra.
I mean... love it!

Miles Redd understands space...color, patterns, display.....
let's just say the man has it!
The gift.
Take this sectional, most people do not understand that a sectional is the way to go for a small space if you need more than seating for 2 - 4.
Not to mention the 'cozy factor'.
You always have the corner to lay down in as if it were a chaise.
I love the cozy corner.
See the wall mounted lamps?
I do the same thing for my clients when there is very little room for end pieces next to the sofa.
Floor lamps are so predictable.

And here I am in that same old outfit with Mr. Redd .
Next time I go to market at the DCOTA, I will have to have my make-up and wardrobe trailer brought along. lol

Could you DIE ?
Gorgeous.

Are those Hermes Boxes?
I hope so.

Palm Beach

Before I spoke to Miles Redd, I was watching him with some young design students.
They were all 'goo goo' over him ( and rightly so), giggling and asking him for advice, and telling him that they would be sending him their resumes....blah, blah, blah.
And all the while Mr. Redd was so kind, encouraging and attentive to each one of them.
I am sure a few of them will never forget the experience.

It was sweet to watch.

Did you know that he has quite the southern accent?
*He is Living and working in the heart of Manhattan
It is just another thing that is special about him.
I would think it must be like having a very gentle, yet exotic creature design your home.
What a gift that would be.
Do you agree ?
