He Can't Be Painted From Memory

Tonight I was speaking to my daughter (on the phone), my only child, my sweet little blonde angel.
Her 22 year old heart has just been broken.
( I don't dare share with her how that this is only the beginning.....)
Has anyone ever told you they don't love you anymore?
I have been told that.....it hits hard......and it hurts hard.

The song below is one of my favorites by Burt Bacharach, and sung by Elvis Costello.
I have cried myself to sleep listening to this song more nights than I would like to admit.

If I could take the pain for her I would...I know how to 'do pain.'
But I can't take hers.
It is her pain and her journey.
It is not mine to take.

But listening to the sadness in her voice,  and hearing her cry is almost more than I can bare.
But I will.
And I will be there and I will listen.
I won't judge or tell her
I told you so.

Don't you agree that it is hard to 'shut up' when we need to,
and not try and fix every little thing ?
When we really can't....
Because Time will fix it.
Right?
And just being there is the most important.....I am hoping.

I SPY - A short CHAISE..... Or Is It A Chair For Tommy ???

The picture below is from a previous post about
'Round Hill'
an outrageously beautiful resort in Jamaica.
Ralph Lauren helped with the re-do a few years ago......
look at these chairs,
I think they are short chaise lounges. No?
How clever is that???
The chairs are too deep for most.
Except for maybe Tommy Tune.

I mean, you really don't need you feet supported if your legs are.
Your feet can hang off the edge of the chair and it would still be super comfy.
Your legs are still elevated.
Just think of all the space you gain in the room
when your chaise is 6" or 9" shorter.
Hey....ya' think it is just me that sees these chairs as baby lounge chairs?
I do have little legs...I am only 5'2".

Do you think there would be a market
for a chair/chaise like this one?
Would you want one?
If you had limited space and wanted a chaise....
would it bother you to have you feet hanging off the edge?

St. Tropez ( With Gold Ironwork )

A New Collection from Lexington .
This is brand new, hot off the press,
hitting showroom floors this week!!

A designer that I work with loves theses chairs so much
that she is ready to start a new design job based on the style and finish of these pieces.

A few of you know how I feel about armless pieces.
This one is beautiful from all sides - and that can be a blessing if you need to put the back of the sofa facing the entrance to the room.
Especially if you are tight on space or tight on money.
You will not have to buy a sofa table, or the things that you would need to place on it.
* to cover the back of the sofa
And if you are tight on space, this will negate the need to make allowances for the space a sofa table will take up . Was that clear?
It's a 'win win' situation. No?

These tables are treasures.
They are 24 inches square you can build the cocktail size that you need.
The gold finish is not too gold, not too shiney, it is just right.
In fact the finish is not shiny at all. It is almost aged in it's effect.

This console is a stunner.
It has a stone top, it is mirrored inside,
and has glass shelving and the criss cross gold iron work.
The criss cross gold iron work
is the signature of the St Tropez Collection from Lexington Furniture.

 Beautiful in person.

It is so hard to find a really long dining table that is beautiful.
The dining table from this Collection extends up to 124" long.
How is that for big?

This table extends as well. It has 4 leaves that extend the table
in such a way that it retains it's unique shape.

I will be using this china cabinet in a job I am working on right now.

What do you think of this collection?
The truth!

Come with me to Round Hill

This is Round Hill Hotel & Villas. in Jamaica.
Thirty acres of  pure bliss,
the property of Round Hill awaits you.
I can describe Jamaica with only one word.
Paradise.
I have been to many islands.
The Bahama's, Curacao, St Martin, Barbados, Bimini, The Hawaiian Isles.
The Cayman Isles, Coastal Mexico, Jamaica and Bermuda to name a few.
I adore Bermuda, and I think I could live there.
But Jamaica is the most lush, green and blue place on earth.
It has mountains, with waterfalls.
And it has the turquoise coast that is dappled with cliffs and white sand beaches.
One of the pools at Round Hill

The illustrious watering hole.
If only these walls could talk.
The villas have been a place for the famous
and not so famous to
check in and check out!
(from the world we know everyday)

How about a rub down here?
Or a drink here?
Imagine hanging out here after a day at the beach.
You are golden brown, squeaky clean from your hot tub, steam and massage.
You are wrapped up in all white terry .....
hmmmm....what shall I do for dinner?
These are just a few of the faces you would have seen at Round Hill over the years.
File:Noel Coward Allan warren.jpg
Noel Coward, Errol Flynn, and yes, Clark Gable
to name a very, very few.

In 2004 Ralph Lauren had his hand in the compound's make-over.
This place is so perfect that at any given moment you might find
an employee holding a palm branch at just the right angle,
to make your view just as it should be.
hahahaha
I swear I can see the tips of this guys shoes. He's holding the palm
in front of the camera lens to frame the shot just 'Paradise' beautiful!
Right?
A villa pool.
Not bad eh?

Could you,
would you like to check in,
and 'check out' at Round Hill?

Pied A Terre

I think featured collections that are sometimes unusual
make a room very interesting.
It often can give ones guests a peek into
who the home owner really is
and what he or she is about.
It seems to me like the designer of this space,
Stephan Shubel
has a great deal of clarity on this aspect of interior design.

This is a Paris Apartment featured in a design magazine back in 2005.
The image above would make a great painting I think.

as featured in Elle Decor  - April 2005
It is obvious to me that his work stands the test of time.
These images are taken 5 years ago, and many design blogs are featuring
items, finishes, and appointments that he used back in 2005.

Look at the pillow on the right...........
this is catching on like wild fire just now
in  furniture, home design, and the bloggie world.

Do you like his work?
Could you live here?

I SPY An Industrial Shabby Chic Pendant

I SPY  An Industrial Shabby Chic Pendant Light Fixture
measuring 9" dia. x 9" W 7" H x 12" Overall H

"The Five-Bulb Compact Pendant Chandelier (9” x 9”) is an industrial blow-torch of light and crystal. It features five refrigerator bulbs in a tight symmetrical pattern lubricated by a colorful flow of crystal which plays with and amplifies the light.
Crystals may be rearranged over time to change the look and feel of the piece."
Retail 1499.00

I can see this pendant fixture being fantastic in just the right place.
I love industrial design touches.
This would be perfect over a kitchen sink!
Or several over the eat-in counter in a kitchen, over a kitchen island.....
heck I can see this pendant in a bathroom, master closet......
or over a the bar in a hip new restaurant....

I like it.
How about you?
Where would you put
this light fixture?

Mom, I know....you would put it in the garbage.

Fresh Eyes

Mondays....................
*Our thoughts form our world. Your mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Through the thoughts you run through your mind every minute of every day, you can create a rich, rewarding life or a living nightmare. Remember, there is no objective reality. We see the world through our own set of unique lenses and we all have the power to interpret the world in a positive way if we so choose.
As one wise thinker said: “we see the world, not as it is but as we are.”
*By Robin Sharma

I know I don't see myself as I am.
I am so sure.....that I always look older, fatter, and shorter than others see me.
It has been said that 'the more harshly we judge ourselves,
the more harshly we will judge others.'
I think this is true.
How do I see others?
Do I see them greater than they are?
Do I see them as being less significant than they are?
I need to see things as though I were looking through a keyhole.
If I were to look through a keyhole.....
I would be unaware of what is on the other side.
I couldn't prejudge what or who was on the other side either.
I will practice this all week.

Sometimes I need a Fresh Set of Eyes.
How about you you ?

About Renée Finberg

I have been in this business since the age of 22.

I love what I do and cannot imagine my life without Design.

Design Challenges are great.

And because of those challenges

I have imported fine antique pieces from Paris,

Designed and Manufactured Furniture,

Created Fantastic Window Treatments,

And solved all kinds of spatial & architectural issues

With my unique style.

If I can't find it, I create it.

My rooms would make excellent movie sets.

I am a visual, tactile and audio sensitive individual.

Creating is what I live for, not math, not spelling, not science.

Just Great Design.

Just imagine how it would be if each of us,

If only for a few hours of everyday,We could be in a space that is our very own.A place that is exactly the way we want it to be

Surrounded by all the things we wanted to see,

The atmosphere we wanted feel, smell and the sound we wanted to listen to.
